Ítem Acceso Abierto “Abordaje odontopediátrico a pacientes discapacitados. Una revisión sistemática”(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2022) López Ochoa, Juan Sebatián; Vásquez Ávila, Camila José; Ordóñez Crespo, Paola Alexandra; 0107193518; 0301988994; ., .OBJECTIVE: To determine the most appropriate pediatric dentistry approach for children with disabilities. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The research was conducted following the guidelines of the PRISMA statement, with a modification of the PICO question (PIO). The PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and SciELO databases were used. Articles in English and Spanish, clinical trials, and observational studies were randomly selected as inclusion criteria. The quality of the articles was evaluated using the CONSORT scale for randomized clinical trials and STROBE for observational studies. RESULTS: A total of 15 articles were included for qualitative analysis; 67% were low bias, and 33% were medium bias. Efficacy, parental preference, and type of pediatric dentistry treatment were analyzed. CONCLUSIONS: Basic techniques were the most effective and preferred by parents for behavioral management of their children with disabilities, followed as a complementary technique by nitrous oxide sedation. At the same time, general anesthesia is utilized in more complex treatments.Ítem Acceso Abierto Abordaje sobre migraña. Due to the pain caused by the crisis, the diagnosis is only clinical, determined by the physician through clinical history; the treatment should be individualized, which means it differs from one patient to another. Objective: To analyze the information on migraines via a systematic review, considering diagnostic criteria, treatment, and complications. Method: A systematic review was conducted using the PRISMA 2020 guide; information was obtained from PubMed, Scopus, Science Direct, SciELO, and Redalyc databases; articles were selected based on the application of inclusion and exclusion criteria, considering Q1 - Q4 quartiles, in addition to Oxford evidence levels and according to methodological quality using the PEDro scale. Results: Once analyzing the scientific articles, it is established that palpitations occur in 56.6%, being the primary extracranial autonomic symptom that precedes migraine patients. Triptans are the preferred treatment choice, with sumatriptan estimated as the first-line drug. Migraine with aura exposes patients to migrainous infarction, the most frequent complication of this condition.Ítem Acceso Abierto La actividad física como factor de prevención del sedentarismo en adolescentes de 13-15 años(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Cordero Celdo, Mirian Alicia; Bravo Navarro, Wilson Hernando; 0350297347; ., .This research aims to analyze the Physical Activity level and Sedentary Habits of adolescents at the “Dr. Gabriel Sánchez Luna” Educational Unit through the application of the IPAQ (International Physical Activity Questionnaire) and Sedentary Habits questionnaires to know the lifestyle of this population. The design was non-experimental, with a quantitative approach and a descriptive scope. A non-probabilistic convenience sample of 54 students was used, 30 were males and 24 females aged 13 to 15. It had the authorization of the Educational Unit and proceeded to apply the questionnaires; the answers were analyzed using Microsoft Excel and the SPSS 26 software. The results revealed that Physical Activity levels in male students are higher than in female students; most of the adolescents walk to their place of study. On the other hand, high levels of use of technological devices, such as cell phones, and low computer use were observed.Ítem Acceso Abierto Actividad física y hábitos sedentarios en estudiantes de la Carrera PAFD(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Ali Lanchi, Paola Lizbeth; Navarro Bravo, Wilson Hernando; 0302534995; ., .This research aims to analyze the Physical Activity (PA) and Sedentary Habits (HS) levels of students of the Physical Education and Sports Pedagogy Faculty at the Catholic University of Cuenca Campus Azogues through the application of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) short version and the HS questionnaire to know if the university students comply with the PA recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO), according to age, sex, and cycle. The sample consisted of 158 students enrolled in 2021-2022, 118 are male, and 27 are female, ranging from 17 to 40 years of age. After conducting this study, it will provide theoretical support, and this reliable and understandable information will permit an understanding of the levels of physical activity and, at the same time, its percentage. The answers were analyzed using Microsoft Excel and the SPSS 26 software to obtain descriptive statistics. The results of the IPAQ questionnaire showed that PA levels are higher in men. The sample comprised 64 students. A non-experimental design was employed, given that the variable was not manipulated, and it was cross-sectional because it was measured at a single point in time, and was descriptive in scope; this study was conducted using a quantitative approach for an interpretative examination of the data. It was determined that 56.16% of the population are sedentary, 28.08% do regular physical activity, and 15.60% do intense physical activity or have some sport as a hobby. Physical activity can improve cardiovascular capacity and the immune system and help control weight. It is one of the issues promoting students' health and is the only way to prevent diseases and sedentarism.Ítem Acceso Abierto Actividad y niveles de satisfacción sexual en gestantes(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Supe Reinoso, Mónica Isabel; Altamirano Cárdenas, Luis Francisco; 0104652862; ., .Introduction: Sexuality is a crucial aspect of the integral health of human beings, encompassing sex, identity, gender roles, pleasure, intimacy, reproduction, and sexual orientation. Objective: To determine the frequency of sexual activity and sexual satisfaction levels in pregnant women. Methodology: This is an analytical study through a systematic review involving the selection of scientific articles from Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases from 2013 to 2023. The selection of articles observed the PRISMA 2020 statement guidelines. Results: The frequency of sexual intercourse in pregnant women is 76.69%, with a higher frequency in the first trimester of pregnancy at 41.46%, meanwhile, the low sexual satisfaction level reaches 38.70%. Conclusion: In pregnant women, the frequency of sexual intercourse is high, while there is not a significant difference in the sexual satisfaction levelsÍtem Acceso Abierto Actividades Lúdicas en el desarrollo psicomotriz en niños de 8 a 10 años(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Garcia Molina, Kevin Germán; Jarrin Navas, Santiago; 0350098281; ., .Psychomotricity studies and develops motor and cognitive skills, making it possible to satisfy needs that influence the quality of life; therefore, this research aims to analyze the psychomotor development in children from 8 to 10 years old through ludic activities since, during this stage, normal development is affected by growth processes, as well as physical and psychic abilities changes. The methodology was pre-experimental with a longitudinal scope of quantitative approach, conducted in a population of 24 children, 14 boys and 10 girls from the "San Rafael" Educational Unit of Honorato Vásquez in Cañar canton; the research instrument was the EVANM neuromotor test of (90 items) validated by Cronbach's alpha (α= 0. 937) with a significant index, which was applied in a pre-and post-test where the basic movement patterns of walking, crawling, dragging, running, hop, balance, muscle tone, and postural control were evaluated. The pre-test indicated that 4% of the children had not acquired all the motor skills dimensions, 8% postural control, balance, and 21% muscle tone. The post-test showed that after applying the intervention proposal based on ludic activities through physical education such as games, exercises, and sports performed during 24 sessions from April to June 2023, there was significant progress in the motor skills acquisition, thus demonstrating a positive relationship between ludic activities and psychomotricity.Ítem Acceso Abierto Actividades recreativas para desarrollar la motricidad gruesa en niños de 6-8 años(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Calle Sarmiento, Cristian Fabian; Toledo Moncayo, Cecilia de la Nube; 0350153060; ., .Gross motor skills are the ability to move or produce movement through recreational activities at an early age in children because they facilitate the control of the body via actions and the development of different skills and abilities. This research aimed to improve gross motor skills levels with a recreational activities program for children from 6 to 8 years of age. The methodology was quasi-experimental, descriptive, longitudinal, and quantitative. A motor skill test was used to evaluate 30 children from the “Daniel Muñoz Serrano” Educational Unit in Biblian Canton to know the current level of recreational activities concerning gross motor skills. For this purpose, students were the sample and represented the population. They participated in an eight-week program with 40-minute training sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The results evidenced percentage changes between the pre- and post-tests of the two study variables. These results consider that the program's application to improve gross motor skills in children greatly supports and benefits performing daily activities and improving their physical, psychological, and social condition. It is concluded that playful activities are ideal for children to learn and develop correctly since kids learn by playing.Ítem Acceso Abierto Actualización científica obstrucción de la vía aérea por cuerpo extraño - OVACE. Revisión Sistemática(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Urgilés Rodríguez, Rafael Leonardo; Barzallo Ochoa, Tania Pamela; 0302617121; ., .Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO) is a pediatric emergency characterized by the accidental penetration of an organic or inorganic object into the tracheobronchial tree, which can cause dyspnea, severe hypoxia, cardiorespiratory arrest, and death. Objective: To provide a scientific update on FB airway obstruction through a systematic review with high statistical power. Method: An exhaustive exploration of the plasma systematic review was performed, which is a descriptive, explanatory, and longitudinal research, based on the PRISMA statement, to identify several academic articles of scientific importance. Results: It is a childhood emergency, mainly in boys, with a percentage of 61.97, and 69.02% in children under five. The focused therapeutic management was the use of Magill clamp or intubation (74.64%-53 cases), bronchoscopy (14.1%-10 cases), laparoscopic surgery (1.41%-1 cases), and expectant management (9.85%-7 cases). These figures come from 71 cases that capture 100% of pediatric patients with FBAO who attended this center between 2017 and 2021. Conclusion: Aspiration of foreign bodies has been cataloged as one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in pediatric patients. Among the most common foreign bodies in bronchoaspiration, are fruits, grains, candy, meat, and bones. In terms of diagnosis, the first choice is a chest X-ray to determine the type and location of the foreign body, and based on this, the appropriate treatment is determined.Ítem Acceso Abierto “ACTUALIZACIÓN DE LAS COMPLICACIONES POSTQUIRÚRGICAS EN CIRUGÍA MÍNIMAMENTE INVASIVA EN GINECOLOGÍA. Objective: To analyze postoperative complications in minimally invasive surgery in gynecology through a bibliographic review. Methodology: A bibliographic review of scientific information published in the last five years was conducted. This research included scientific articles published in English and Spanish, degree works, clinical trials, and systematic and bibliographic reviews. Documents were selected from reliable sources related to the proposed topic. Results: Thirty- five scientific articles were reviewed from the following databases: Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar, Elsevier, SciELO, and PubMed; nine articles were excluded, one for having incomplete information, two repeated articles, and six articles that were published more than five years ago.Ítem Acceso Abierto Actualización de neuralgia del trigémino. Revisión sistemática(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Jimmy Javier, Molina Verdugo; Torres Criollo, Larry Miguel; 0302893086; ., .Introduction: Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is a pathology characterized by intense unilateral facial pain and commonly affecting the maxillary and mandibular branches of the trigeminal nerve. Its multifactorial etiology makes identifying more current and effective diagnostic and therapeutic methods essential. Objective: To identify trigeminal neuralgia's updated clinical, diagnostic, and therapeutic characteristics. Methodology: A systematic review was conducted according to the recommendations of the PRISMA 2020 declaration, based on the literature available in data portals "PubMed, Science Direct, SciELO, Elsevier, and Google Scholar" from the last five years, including a bibliography between the Q1-Q4 quartiles reflecting the impact index of each journal and evidence levels classified by the Oxford scale. Results: A database was generated by searching and screening the scientific bibliography to provide quality information and thus achieve a proper identification and treatment of the disease. Conclusions: After reviewing the articles, it was concluded that the primary etiology is idiopathic. The diagnosis is clinical according to Headache Disorders Classification criteria in its third edition and three-dimensional T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging for the assessment of nerve structures; some therapeutic options exist, the carbamazepine considered the first-line pharmacological treatment and the microvascular decompression surgical therapy as an option in cases of low tolerance.Ítem Acceso Abierto Actualización del diagnóstico y manejo de la rinitis alérgica en pacientes pediátricos(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Molina Cevallos, Erika Gabriela; Quevedo Crespo, María José; 0921698254; ., .Allergic rhinitis is a common disease in children and adolescents. It presents a prevalence of 8% to 15% in the child population worldwide (1) Objective. This work aims to inform about the different diagnostic methods and therapeutics used in this pathology in pediatric patients. Method. It is a bibliographic review of non-experimental documentary design based on PRISMA guidelines. For this research, a compilation of different scientific articles and systematic reviews was conducted, consulting high-impact databases, such as PubMed and SciELO. The search was limited to articles published in the last five years in Spanish and English. Results: Thirty-one articles were reviewed, and 26 were selected for relevance. Five articles were excluded, as four had a publication date older than five years, and one had incomplete information. The key elements for diagnosing allergic rhinitis include an adequate anamnesis and a proper physical examination. The treatment of allergic rhinitis is pharmacological (antihistamines, intranasal corticosteroids, among others) and non-pharmacological (avoiding contact with allergens). Conclusions. Allergic rhinitis involves inflammation of the nasal mucosa. It is essential for medical professionals to diagnose, treat, and follow up ith patients appropriately to improve their quality of life and those around them.Ítem Acceso Abierto Actualización del diagnóstico y manejo del síndrome compartimental abdominal. Revisión sistemática(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Saldarriaga Basurto, Bryan Stalin; Rodas Andrade, Jorge Roberto; 1314637297; ., .Abdominal Compartment Syndrome (ACS) is defined as when two or more anatomical segments exhibit persistent intra-abdominal pressures (IAP) >20mmHg, associated with organ failure. Intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) and ACS occur more frequently in patients with high morbidity and mortality rates. Continuous monitoring of critically ill patients, both medical and surgical, facilitates early diagnosis and appropriate ACS treatment. The detection of ACS involves measuring IAP, which can be done indirectly or directly, and the choice of medical or surgical treatment is based on each patient's needs. Objective: To describe the updated diagnosis and management of Abdominal Compartment Syndrome. Methodology: A review of the diagnosis and management of ACS was conducted through a descriptive, retrospective, qualitative approach based on scientific articles published in the last five years in Spanish, Portuguese, and English in databases such as SciELO, Science, PubMed, Taylor & Francis, Scopus, ProQuest. Results: After analyzing articles on the topic, 45 studies were obtained, followed by exclusion and inclusion methods, resulting in 30 papers for this systematization. Conclusion: The diagnosis of ACS requires the measurement of IAP, with the intravesical catheter being the gold standard. The management of ACS should be stepwise, ranging from conservative medical treatment to a surgical procedure, without needing to be mutually exclusive.Ítem Acceso Abierto Actualización del tratamiento en pacientes con Síndrome de Meniere. Revisión sistemática(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Zambrano Párraga, Enma Jaqueline; Pérez Ramírez, Jacinto Eugenio; 1316577335; ., .Meniere's syndrome is an inner ear disease characterized by recurrent rotatory sensorineural vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and progressive hearing loss. Several pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapeutic options must be individualized to improve patients' quality of life. Objective: To analyze the therapeutic options for Meniere's Syndrome treatment. Methodology: This systematic review was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement. Results: Treatment is based on reducing the intensity of the symptoms and consists of implementing hygienic-dietary measures such as restricting salt and caffeine, managing stress, and rest. Medication such as betahistine or diuretics is often associated with controlling inner ear pressure. In refractory cases, treatment can be alternating with intratympanic medicines; in the most severe cases in which pharmacological treatment does not work, different types of surgical interventions can be considered to alleviate vertiginous crises. Conclusions: It was possible to focus the treatment on modifying the patients' lifestyle; this involves reducing salt intake and avoiding caffeine, sugar, and alcohol. Physical exercise, sleep, and stress management also play a fundamental role. The most commonly used drugs to prevent vertigo attacks in Meniere's disease are diuretics and/or betahistine.Ítem Acceso Abierto Actualización en el diagnóstico y tratamiento del Síndrome de Hellp(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Cordero Verdugo, Christofer Renato; Pérez Ramírez, Jacinto Eugenio; 0302707088; ., .Hellp syndrome (HS) is a complication during pregnancy, usually derived from preeclampsia and eclampsia. Hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and thrombocytopenia characterize this complication. According to the Ministry of Public Health, 3 out of every 1000 pregnant women in Ecuador have this condition. This syndrome is represented by abdominal discomfort at the epigastrium level and in the right upper quadrant, and other symptoms are nausea leading to vomiting. This study aimed to perform a bibliographic review on Hellp Syndrome focused on diagnosis and treatment; for this, a reviewer conducted bibliographic research in digital databases such as PubMed, SciELO, Elsevier, EMBASE, Scopus, ResearchGate, Crossref, Sinergia, UptoDate, Reciamuc, and Google Scholar. Revisión Sistemática(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Molina Gonzáles, Karla Alejandra; Quevedo Crespo, María José; 0401585575; ., .Abstract: Late-onset sepsis in newborns represents an important event in the overall morbimortality in neonatal patients, especially in preterm and low and very low birth weight neonates. Late neonatal sepsis affects newborns after 72 hours of life and until the end of the neonatal period; the clinical manifestations are varied and nonspecific. The gold standard test for its diagnosis is the culture of blood, cerebrospinal fluid, or other focus of infection, and treatment is based on extended-spectrum antibiotic therapy. Objective: To conduct descriptive research by compiling current scientific articles of the last five years on late neonatal sepsis, advances, and innovations in its identification and clinical management. Methodology: Systematic review of non-experimental documentary design at descriptive level following PRISMA guidelines. Results: Thirty-four articles were reviewed; 25 matched the inclusion criteria; two papers were payable, so they could not be accessed; and seven articles were published over five years ago. Conclusions: Late neonatal sepsis is a severe infection that requires high clinical suspicion and appropriate management. Healthcare providers should pay close attention to the signs and symptoms of this disease and apply the necessary preventive policies to care for neonates' short- and long-term health and well-being.Ítem Acceso Abierto "Adaptación de la tecnología estándar de comunicación en el campo del control y supervisión de procesos industriales (OPC), en un prototipo de sistema SCADA basado en la plataforma Ignition y controladores lógicos programables"(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2018) Ordoñez Lliguicota, Luis Vinicio; González Redrován, Javier; 0302893169; ., .The implementation of an OPC communication architecture, allows to integrate diverse independent technologies of the manufacturer, offering a better management in the control and monitory of an industrial process. The existence of proprietary systems dependent of hardware and skilled software, require of costly investments and of problems of interoperability in front of a deficient adaptation. In this, the protocol OPC presents a firm solution, reliable and flexible, deleting these impositions endowments that the OPC Foundation compact in his versions of OPC classical and OPC UA. This graduation work shows a prototype of system OPC SCADA designed in the platform Ignition, which controls and monitor from a local network the micro climate of a greenhouse scale model. By means of basic control techniques, it is possible to regulate the climatic conditions of humidity, temperature and quantity of water. To do it, it is employed OPC servers with different types of technologies (PLC, Arduino and Raspberry Pi) that manage several processes and that are executed from different platforms. In conclusion, the prototype proposed, constitutes an interesting subject to explore new alternatives, by evaluating embed devices so that they can be used as profitable and sustainable tools in the industry, allowing the adequacy of this technology with a very low cost of investment.Ítem Acceso Abierto Adherencia al tratamiento farmacológico en pacientes diabéticos e hipertensos del centro de salud Mariano Estrella, período septiembre 2019 - febrero 2020(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2020) Vinces Guevara, Evelyn Cristina; Latacela Lligui, Gloria Alexandra; 1105324279; ., .Adherence to treatment is the person's attitude to drug prescriptions according to the medical indication. Objective: To determine adherence to pharmacological treatment in diabetic and hypertensive patients treated at the Mariano Estrella Health Center. Methodology: Applied, descriptive, cross-sectional research with a quantitative approach. Sample: 151 users who presented arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus and the two pathologies together. Technique: Survey. Instruments: Test to measure knowledge of the pathology and Morisky test to measure adherence to treatment. Results: 44.1% of the patients studied were between the ages of 65 and over, the female sex prevailed 57.9%, 59.9% of the patients were married, 16.4% had complete secondary education, and a similar percentage of illiteracy was noted (15.8%). Thirty-eight per cent of the patients suffered from hypertension, 33 per cent from diabetes, and 27 per cent from both diseases. Forty-six percent of the participants had a qualified level of knowledge about the pathology; with regard to adherence to treatment, 93.4% were not adherent and only 6.6% were adherent to treatment. Conclusion: The majority of the patients studied were not adherent to the pharmacological treatment, which means that where 9 out of 10 patients do not take the medication as indicated by the doctor, and have an average knowledge of the pathology they suffer from.Ítem Solo Metadatos Adolescencia y conductas de riesgo en los alumnos de la unidad educativa Ambrosio Andrade Palacios en el período mayo-octubre 2018(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2019) Bermeo Narváez, Jéssica Mariuxi; Yambay Bautista, Xavier Rodrigo; 0302547807; ., .Objective: to determine the risk behaviors in the adolescents of the Unit Educational "Ambrosio Andrade Palacios" of the Ducur parish. materials and Methods: a cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out, the population was 233 adolescents, convenience sample of 145 adolescents between 14 and 18 years, from the tenth year of basic to the third year of high school. A survey was applied prepared by the researcher, validated with a reliability level of 0.72 (alpha of Cronbach), respecting ethical procedures. Results: It was found a low risk level for the development of dangerous behaviors in 100% of the teenagers. 3% prevalence in risky sexual behaviors, 7% for the violence dimension, 20% substance use, behavioral disorders food obtained 26%, suicidal behavior appeared in 31%. I know evidence that 31% of adolescents have not received education and/or promotion on these topics. Conclusions: It is concluded that within the educational unit the adolescents develop risk behaviors at a low level; nevertheless, there are dimensions that can significantly affect your life especially in relation to suicidal behaviors, eating behavior disorders and use of substancesÍtem Acceso Abierto La adopción homoparental, una nueva necesidad en el ordenamiento jurídico ecuatoriano(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Sumba Lucero, Brian Steven; Castro Flores, Jessica Fernanda; 0302318985; ., .This paper studied the relationship between the principle of the child's best interest and homoparental adoption within the Ecuadorian legal system framework. The methodology was developed using a qualitative approach due to the theoretical basis of adoption. Likewise, the deductive-inductive method was used to study general knowledge of homoparental adoption to particular contents of this legal figure. On the other hand, the dogmatic-legal method was utilized to clarify, through interpretation, the norms and laws that comprise the Ecuadorian and international legal systems concerning the legal entity examined. The analytical-synthetic method was also employed to consolidate and interpret the information gathered to identify the legal consequences of the lack of regulation of same-sex adoption in Ecuador. The research techniques were the file and the bibliographic review. In conclusion, the need to regulate homoparental adoption in the Ecuadorian legal system was theoretically justified. Additionally, a reform of the Civil Code and the Code of Childhood and Adolescence was considered opportune to achieve its legal recognition and to permit adoption in same-sex families to guarantee the principle of the best interest of the child.
