    Relación entre el uso de redes sociales y hábitos de vida no saludables en adolescentes: Una revisión bibliográfica

    Sedentary behavior among adolescents, influenced by excessive social media use, has arisen as a public health issue. Based on this premise, this research aims to conduct a literature review on the relationship between social media use and unhealthy lifestyle habits in adolescents, providing a synthesis of data that contextualizes the issue. The methodology involved searching databases such as Redalyc, Google Scholar, SciELO, and Scopus using terms related to sedentary behavior, social media, and adolescents. Twenty articles published between 2015 and 2023 were selected. The results indicate that Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook are adolescents' most commonly used social media platforms. Excessive use of these platforms is linked to problems such as obesity, sleep disturbances, anxiety, and body image disorders. Additionally, negative effects on academic performance and interpersonal relationships were observed. However, the study also identified that Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) can promote healthy habits. In conclusion, excessive social media use contributes to a sedentary lifestyle, affecting adolescents' physical and mental health. Implementing educational interventions and policies that encourage a balanced use of social media while promoting physical activity and healthy habits within this population is essential.     Influencia de la educación física en la calidad de vida de los escolares

    This research analyzes how Physical Education contributes to improving schoolchildren’s abilities, physiological and psychological development, and overall well-being. Additionally, it promotes the learning of rules and impulse control, positively impacting their quality of life in terms of health, mood, and academic performance. The lack of physical activity is one of the leading causes of disease development in children, adolescents, and adults. This study aims to address the needs of schoolchildren by analyzing the influence of Physical Education on the quality of life of students in the middle basic education sublevel at San Francisco de Peleusí de Azogues Basic Education School. This research is descriptive, with a cross-sectional design and a quantitative approach. The KIDSCREEN-27 questionnaire, previously validated in Latin American children, was used as a data collection instrument. The study population was determined as schoolchildren of the middle basic education sublevel of the aforementioned institution through a simple random probabilistic sampling method. The sample comprised 50 participants, equally distributed between twenty-five boys and twenty-five girls. In conclusion, physical activity positively influences the quality of life of schoolchildren in the middle basic education sublevel at the San Francisco de Peleusí de Azogues Basic Education School.     La motivación en las clases de Educación Física en escolares: revisión bibliográfica

    Lack of motivation is a key factor influencing students' unwillingness to fully engage in Physical Education, leading to a decline in interest in the subject. Therefore, through a literature review, this study aimed to analyze the different factors and types of motivation that influence schoolchildren during Physical Education classes. This review highlights the types of motivation and the factors affecting Physical Education classes. The methodology involved a literature review of articles in Spanish published in the last ten years from open- access databases such as Google Scholar, SciELO, Redalyc, Web of Science, and Scopus, using the following terms: motivation, Physical Education, and teaching style. The most notable findings indicate that teachers' instructional methodology is crucial in making Physical Education classes more engaging, reducing demotivation, and increasing students' willingness to participate actively. In conclusion, the most significant factor was the teacher's instructional methodology, whose ability is to create a motivational environment and generate meaningful and collaborative learning.     This study addresses the issue of the lack of aquatic activities among schoolchildren, considering their impact on their holistic development since these activities fight against sedentary lifestyles, improve physical health, and promote social and emotional skills in school-aged children. This research aims to analyze, through a literature review, the physical, psychological, and social benefits of these activities. The methodology was qualitative and descriptive, based on a review of scientific literature published between 2018 and 2024. Relevant articles published in Spanish, English, and Portuguese were selected, excluding theses and other non-academic works. The sources included databases such as SciELO, Redalyc, and Scopus, ensuring the validity of the results. Among the most relevant findings, aquatic activities strengthened the cardiovascular system, developed fundamental motor skills such as balance and coordination, and improved children's confidence and socialization. Additionally, these activities help overcome the fear of water and provide significant psychological and emotional benefits. In conclusion, aquatic activities are an educational and recreational tool that contributes to the overall well-being of schoolchildren. Their inclusion in the educational environment can promote healthy lifestyles and enhance essential skills for their holistic development.     Hábitos alimenticios y actividad física en estudiantes universitarios: revisión bibliográfica

    The demands of contemporary societies have created various challenges for university students in developing healthy eating habits and maintaining regular physical activity. This situation has highlighted health problems and low academic performance among students. Therefore, this scientific article aimed to determine university students' healthy eating habits and physical activity through a literature review. A qualitative methodology with a descriptive approach was implemented to analyze the impact of eating habits and physical activity among university students. Inclusion criteria included articles from the last ten years and documents in Spanish and English, while exclusion criteria encompassed books, book chapters, reports, symposiums, informational catalogs, and web pages. In conclusion, the study revealed that university students have low physical conditioning and inadequate eating habits, which are influenced by study schedules, academic stress, and a lack of interest in health care. It highlights that a lack of motor coordination is a common challenge in schools, affecting students' ability to perform technical movements and participate in sports. The study emphasizes that using traditional games, relay races, chase games, and motor skill activities, among others, can significantly enhance motor coordination, promoting skills such as balance, agility, strength, and precision. The research adopts a qualitative approach based on a literature review of studies conducted from 2019 to 2024. It analyzes various approaches and outcomes regarding how playful activities impact the motor coordination of schoolchildren. The findings suggest that these activities not only improve motor skills but also promote values such as teamwork, healthy competition, and socialization, which are essential for students' holistic development. Finally, the study concludes that it is crucial for teachers to frequently integrate these activities into their Physical Education programs to improve students' physical and emotional well-being, prevent sedentary lifestyles, and optimize their motor learning.     Efecto del entrenamiento pliométrico en el desarrollo de la fuerza explosiva en fútbol: revisión bibliográfica

    Soccer, as a competitive sport, requires specific training that integrates physical, technical, tactical, and psychological components. One of the main challenges is developing explosive strength, an essential ability for executing movements such as jumps and sprints. Plyometric training has proven to be an effective tool for this purpose, combining strength and speed to enhance muscle power and sports performance. This study aims to analyze the relationship between plyometric training and explosive strength development in soccer players through a literature review. The methodology followed a qualitative-descriptive approach, analyzing 35 studies, of which 20 met the inclusion criteria. These studies, published from 2018 to 2024, focused on the impact of this type of training on soccer players of different ages and categories. The results reveal that a well-structured plyometric program improves explosive strength, speed, agility, and endurance, significantly benefiting the lower body. Key variables such as program duration (7-12 weeks), frequency (2-3 sessions per week), and personalization are crucial for maximizing results and reducing injury risks. In conclusion, the relationship between plyometric training and the development of explosive strength in soccer players positively improves explosive strength. It enhances other physical abilities, such as speed, agility, and endurance. Its personalized implementation optimizes sports performance, reinforcing its relevance in the comprehensive physical preparation of soccer players.     This study examines the benefits of physical activity in older adults through a literature review, highlighting its impact on preventing chronic diseases, muscle strengthening, balance improvement, and emotional well-being. The methodology included a literature review of articles published in the last five years, selected from Scopus, Redalyc, SciELO, and Google Scholar databases. The search terms comprised "physical activity," "older adult," "physical benefits," and "psychological benefits" in Spanish and English. Inclusion criteria prioritized recent and relevant studies. The most significant findings reveal that physical activity enhances muscle strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular health while reducing the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. Additionally, it helps alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety, improve psychological well-being, and promote functional independence. Encouraging physical activity among older adults is essential for active and healthy aging and requires strategies that ensure accessibility and professional supervision.     Efectos del sedentarismo y sus consecuencias en edades escolares: una revisión bibliográfica

    Currently, the advanced development of technology has influenced changes in the habits of school-aged children. Video games and online games replace physical activities, as children prefer to stay behind a screen. Thus, the general research objective was to identify the effects of sedentary behavior and its consequences in school-aged children through a literature review. The methodology was qualitative and descriptive. A literature review was conducted using digital databases, focusing on scientific articles published in Spanish in the last 10 years, excluding theses and monographs. The results revealed that the most common causes of sedentary behavior in school-aged children are the excessive use of electronic devices, a sedentary family lifestyle, and a poor diet. The most significant consequences of this behavior are associated with an increased risk of early-onset chronic diseases such as obesity, overweight, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, as well as stress, anxiety, depression, and sleep disorders. In conclusion, considering that sedentary behavior is a growing phenomenon among school-aged children, it is essential to improve regular physical activity levels in this age group through more active lifestyles, starting with the family unit and educational institutions.     Influencia de la actividad física en la salud mental de los jóvenes: revisión bibliográfica

    Currently, the mental health of young people has become a priority due to the increasing cases of stress, anxiety, and depression in this population. As a preventive and therapeutic strategy, physical activity has gained relevance for its positive influence on psychological well-being. Therefore, this research aimed to analyze the influence of physical activity on young people's mental health through a literature review. The methodology employed had a qualitative approach with a descriptive scope, utilizing information sources from digital databases and prioritizing scientific articles in Spanish published in the last 10 years. Thirty-two articles were included in this research, while theses and monographs were excluded. The results revealed that regular physical activity is associated with improved mood, reduced stress levels, decreased symptoms of anxiety and depression, and increased self-esteem and overall well-being. Additionally, physical exercise promotes the regulation of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine, which are essential for emotional balance, and contributes to developing social skills through group activities. In conclusion, regular physical activity not only improves the physical health of young people but also plays a crucial role in strengthening their mental health. Thus, it is recommended that programs that promote physical exercise be implemented in schools, families, and communities as an integral part of mental health care.     Prevalencia de sobrepeso y obesidad en adolescentes de bachillerato de la Unidad Educativa Solano del cantón Déleg

    Excess weight and obesity constitute a significant public health challenge in developed and developing countries. These issues increase the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension in adulthood, highlighting the importance of prevention, early detection, and timely treatment. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of overweight and obesity among high school students at the San Sebastián de Solano Educational Unit, this was carried out using the methodology which consists of applying Using a descriptive, cross-sectional design during the 2022-2023 academic year, BMI was calculated to categorize 60 participating students aged 15 to 17 who agreed to participate through the informed consents given to their representatives . Variables such as age, gender, weight, height, and body fat percentage were recorded. The primary results revealed that most students were overweight (36.7%) and obesity (13.3%). Body fat percentage was higher among females than males in the overweight and obese categories, These data could be collected by applying the IPAQ. In conclusion, both genders showed levels of overweight, obesity, and high body fat values, representing long-term risk factors.     The lifestyles of university students are a growing concern today due to the lack of physical activity, excessive consumption of harmful substances, and poor eating habits. This research aimed to identify the lifestyles of university students, focusing on physical activity, nutrition, and harmful habits; a qualitative approach was used, and a literature review was conducted on digital databases such as Redalyc, SciELO, and Google Scholar. The primary findings revealed a low level of physical activity in this group, with women being more inactive than men. Overweight and obesity are more common in men than in women, and the consumption of alcohol and cigarettes is notably high in all Latin American countries, with a higher prevalence among men. The lifestyles of university students are inadequate. Poor eating habits are prevalent due to their long academic hours, leaving them with no time for proper rest and neglecting their diet, opting for the consumption of junk food, which leads to obesity and overweight, as well as various diseases as a consequence of the excessive intake of sugars and fats.     The intensive practice of a sport like soccer requires that the body be fully prepared. However, specific exercises essential to this sport are often not incorporated, leading several studies to highlight a deficiency in the development of reaction speed in individuals of these ages. Therefore, this study aims to conduct a literature review on reaction speed in soccer players by investigating methods that optimize performance in game situations. This work follows a non-experimental design. All the scientific articles, theses, and selected projects related to reaction speed in soccer published in the last ten years were reviewed objectively and systematically. The search included seven theses and three scientific articles, applying different filters that identify the most important texts. Given that the results found on reaction speed in athletes are applicable in various practice settings, most studies analyzed in the context of soccer conclude that the level of implementation of tactics, exercises, and other activities related to reaction speed is high. Everything can be adapted to new and experienced soccer players, and it will be feasible if different teaching methodologies are used. Keywords: soccer, speed, reaction speed.

    Hábitos alimenticios e índice de masa corporal en adolescentes: Revisión bibliográfica

    According to the research conducted, in recent years, the number of adolescents with inadequate or poor nutrition has increased, which is why they have become a vulnerable group. This study aimed to determine adolescents’ eating habits and body mass index (BMI) through a literature review. This investigation adopts a qualitative approach and is based on literature research. The review involved an electronic search for articles on eating habits and BMI in adolescents, using indexing sources such as Google Scholar, SciELO, Medline, and PubMed, with particular emphasis on studies conducted with university students in health sciences schools. The bibliographic search yielded 15 articles, most of which reported instances of overweight among adolescents. BMI data indicates that 55% of adolescents are classified as "underweight" according to the World Health Organization (WHO) standards. This predominance may be attributed to low-fat diet consumption and regular physical exercise. Nevertheless, a more in-depth analysis is required to obtain conclusive results from this research.     Evaluación de la técnica de conducción del balón en futbolistas de 8 a 10 años

    Soccer ball dribbling is a fundamental skill that must be developed early to enhance performance. A study was conducted to analyze the skill level of ball dribbling in soccer players aged 8 to 10 from the ‘Independiente del Valle-Azogues’ Soccer School. The method used in this study was non-experimental, with a quantitative approach and a longitudinal design. The sample comprised 30 soccer players. To evaluate their dribbling skills, a pre-test and a post-test were applied to measure this technical aspect. The results obtained through this test provided significant data. In particular, it was observed that 80% of the evaluated players demonstrated a dribbling level considered "very good," indicating a high degree of proficiency in this skill. On the other hand, 20% of the evaluated players were at a dribbling level that still had to improve. However, it is essential to highlight that the participation of these players in the soccer school and their exposure to such evaluations suggests that they have the potential to improve their skills. This study emphasizes the importance of consistent, controlled practice and proper training in dribbling technique, which enable the development of more efficient performance among soccer players.     Motivación y satisfacción en educación física en adolescentes del cantón Azogues

    This study aimed to determine the relationship between motivation and satisfaction during physical education classes. A non-experimental, cross-sectional descriptive design was implemented. Adolescent students from the Canton of Azogues participated, ranging in age from 10 to 19 years (M = 15.54, SD = 1.48). The sampling method was non-probabilistic and was selected for convenience. Validated instruments were ed to measure the dimensions of motivation: intrinsic motivation, identified, introjected, and external regulations, and amotivation; as well as the dimensions of satisfaction: enjoyment and boredom. The results revealed that intrinsic motivation is positively associated with identified, introjected, and external regulation, as well as with enjoyment, but is not related to amotivation and is negatively linked to boredom. It is concluded that teachers who create pleasant environments in the context of physical education enhance intrinsic motivation and reduce amotivation and boredom in adolescents.     This article examines the methods and strategies used to identify and develop sports talents in Ecuador. A literature review analyzes traditional and scientific approaches applied by federations and sports clubs, highlighting the importance of proper coach training and the crucial role of Physical Education teachers in the early identification of talents. The lack of infrastructure and resources and political apathy are significant obstacles to sports development in the country. The study proposes combining natural observation methods with scientific evaluations to improve talent detection accuracy. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of implementing effective public policies and increasing investment in coach training. These measures aim to optimize selection processes and ensure the comprehensive development of athletes, contributing to greater sports success nationally and internationally.     Lesiones musculares y su influencia en el rendimiento deportivo: Una perspectiva desde la literatura científica

    Muscle injuries in sports are common and can range from mild strains to severe tears; they occur when muscle fibers are stretched beyond their capacity or break due to excessive effort. Objective: To analyze the causes of muscle injuries presented by athletes through literature research to know their influence on it. Method: This article is a literature review, information was gathered from several sources, such as SciELO, Redalyc, Scopus, and Google Scholar, which gave search lists for muscle injuries, muscle fatigue, and sports disciplines. Result: The findings from these sources indicate that muscle injuries in athletes are primarily caused by factors such as inadequate warming-up, overload, and psychological stress. The results and discussion reveal that muscle injuries are among the most common issues faced by athletes due to factors like an inadequate warm-up, overloading, overtraining, impacts, falls, low psychological resilience, and high physical demands; therefore, it is recommended that each coach develop a specific training plan and consider the physical condition of each athlete, performing regular medical check-up to prevent discomfort and ensure the athlete maintains a healthy condition.     Exigencias de la preparación física en árbitros de fútbol profesional: Un análisis integral

    This study investigates the relationship between physical conditioning and the performance of professional soccer referees by employing a descriptive-documentary approach through an extensive review of literature from academic databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, Taylor & Francis, Redalyc, and SciELO. Eighteen studies were selected based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria related to the significance of physical condition in refereeing. The findings indicate that adequate physical conditioning, encompassing the development of aerobic endurance, speed, strength, and flexibility, is essential for maintaining game tempo, making quick decisions, and reducing errors. Additionally, their physical condition influences the referee’s running technique and ability to follow the play closely. The results emphasize the need for specific physical training programs for referees and suggest that improved physical conditioning can significantly enhance their performance and reduce the risk of injuries. In this context, the study highlights the critical role of physical conditioning in refereeing efficacy, advocating for incorporating more effective training methods and integrating psychological factors in the development of refereeing performance.     Pregnancy and physical exercise are often seen as contradictory for women, as society and even women generally believe that exercise may jeopardize the health and life of the baby. Therefore, trainers must understand the physiological changes associated with exercise during pregnancy. This research aims to conduct a literature review of the main benefits of physical exercise for pregnant women. The research design was non-experimental, and the main methods used to develop the study were a literature review and descriptive, synthetic, deductive, and historical-logical approaches. Scientific articles on the influence of physical exercise on pregnant women from the past four years were searched using six databases. The results revealed the benefits of physical exercise during pregnancy, including significant reductions in cesarean births, gestational diabetes mellitus, gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, excessive gestational weight gain, pelvic floor strengthening, and improved mental health, including reduced anxiety and depression.
