Based on a review of national and international regulations, as well as a comparative analysis of architectural references, design proposals were developed to create appropriate spaces for early childhood care. The project is justified by the interest of the Parish Autonomous Decentralized Government (GAD, by its Spanish acronym) in ensuring the right to comprehensive development for children aged 1 to 3 years, with the goal of strengthening the local education system. As a result, a contextualized architectural proposal is presented, conceived as a planning tool for local authorities. It is based on a synthesis of theoretical analysis, case study reviews, and site analysis. The proposal is structured around five key components: urban context, form and expression, functionality, technical aspects, and environmental sustainability. Keywords: child development, early childhood, preliminary architectural design, educational facilities.Item type: Ítem , Access status: Acceso Abierto , PROPUESTA DE ANTEPROYECTO DE UNA UNIDAD EDUCATIVA DE NIVEL INICIAL EN AZOGUES UTILIZANDO UN REFERENTE COMO ESTRATEGIA DE DISEÑO(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2025-05-15) Mullo Lema, Cintya Noemi; Sacoto Molina, Diana Monserrat; 0605961788The city of Azogues faces a deficit in early childhood education infrastructure coverage, specifically in circuit 03D01C4, as established by the Ministry of Education. This deficit affects children aged 3 to 5, limiting their psychosocial and intellectual development. Therefore, the need to reduce inequalities and improve opportunities for child development by designing educational spaces is highly relevant in today's Ecuador. This study aims to propose a preliminary architectural project for Azogues's early childhood education center using a reference as a design strategy. Diagrams will extract architectural concepts to adapt the proposal to educational conditions. The methodology includes three main points: a literature review on educational spaces and childhood, a site analysis to understand local conditions, and a review of references to select the most appropriate one, incorporating applicable design concepts into the proposal. As a result, a proposal is obtained that responds to educational needs, is adapted to the site, and is linked to the community. This study aimed to design a recreational green space in zone Az-3, responding to users' needs for leisure and contact with nature. The methodology included literature and regulatory research on urban-landscaped design, case studies of similar projects, and an in-depth site analysis. The Graph Method was used to observe and analyze users' impact activities during a week in the morning and afternoon, using photographic capture and organizing the findings through general maps. The outcome of this analytical process was the development of a preliminary urban-landscaped design project that integrates the Burgay Riverbank with the Shopping Centre of Azogues. Finally, schematic panels were used to represent the spatial organization, functional relationships, and design concepts, facilitating effective communication of the project to stakeholders and professionals. This experimental study evaluates the behavior of mortar when incorporating brick fragments in proportions of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%, based on a literature review of standards and research studies. Laboratory tests were conducted in accordance with regulations to characterize the materials and collect the necessary data for mortar mix design calculations. Finally, mortar cubes are prepared using the NTE INEN 488 standard. The test results indicate that incorporating 20% brick waste meets the minimum compressive strength established in NEC-SE-MP Chapter 10: Masonry Wall Construction. Thus, the study demonstrates that incorporating brick waste is viable and sustainable option for producing environmentally friendly mortar coating. The project is justified by the urgent need to improve living conditions for this population, ensuring functional, comfortable, and safe spaces that comply with national and international standards. Its significance lies in its social and architectural impact, offering a design model that can be replicated in future constructions. This research aims to develop a preliminary architectural project for a Reception Centre in Azogues, optimizing functionality, comfort, and aesthetics to meet the needs of both users and administrative staff. The investigation included regulatory analysis, case studies, and site evaluation, allowing for the definition of design strategies based on orientation, sunlight exposure, and privacy. As a result, a design consisting of three functional blocks—administrative, recreational, and rest areas—is proposed, ensuring a safe and suitable environment for the comprehensive development of children and adolescents. The issue lies in the quality of mortars, which largely depends on the aggregates used in their production. The closure of mines supplying sand to the region has led to the use of aggregate from the Jubones River, located 70 km from the city of Cuenca. The research employs an experimental approach, replacing 5% and 20% of the fine aggregate with pozzolan and assessing its performance through laboratory tests in both plastic and hardened states. The results indicate that incorporating 20% pozzolan into the mortar improves fluidity by 7.9% compared to cement-sand mortar. Mechanically, the compressive strength exceeds design values, showing a 17.84% increase compared to standard mortar. Additionally, water absorption is reduced to 1.63%, and mortar density increases. The methodology included flow, compressive strength, and absorption tests, in compliance with national standards. The study concludes that local pozzolan is suitable for the production of bonding mortars, representing a sustainable alternative for construction and reducing the environmental impact associated with traditional sand mining.Item type: Ítem , Access status: Acceso Abierto , Diseño de prototipo de panelmóvil ampliable multifuncional(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Barrazueta Calle, Jaime Alexander; Mogrovejo Arias, María José; 0303134829The organization and design of architectural spaces frequently faceencounter inflexibility caused by partitioning elements like walls and partitions, which restrict space. This graduation project aims to design a mobile, expandable, multifunctional panel prototype using technological innovations. The methodology was based on a theoretical analysis and case studies to obtain a conceptual framework for the panel design. The design of the element was conducted using two approaches: a functional one, which demonstrates its viability within the scope of flexibility in architecture, and a constructive one, which shows the possibility of creating elements by incorporating feasible materials that enable its execution. Finally, the prototype was schematized within different architectural spaces to assess and analyze its importance and efficiency in multifunctional environments in renovations of existing spaces and new projects. This aspect allowed the proposal to be demonstrated as a flexible solution for transform rigid architectural designs into adaptable, versatile, transformable, and variable environments. The schematization of the prototype revealed that this is an element that improves and increases the functions within reduced environments or with rigid spaces, evidencing a remarkable optimization of space and demonstrating the effectiveness and versatility of the prototype. Revisión Sistemática(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Jaramillo González, Jessenia Fernanda; Rodas Torres, Américo; 0301853289Background: Postpartum hemorrhage is the primary obstetric complication since it causes abundant blood loss, leading to hemodynamic compromise after childbirth, and is considered one of the three main causes of maternal morbidity and mortality. Objective: To determine the etiology, management, and treatment of postpartum hemorrhage through a systematic review. Methodology: The study used the PRISMA 2020 methodology for systematic reviews, establishing search strategies in databases such as PubMed, Medline, Google Scholar, Cochrane, Elsevier, SciELO, and Scopus. After analyzing the articles and based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, 15 valid studies were obtained, addressing the question: What is the etiology, management method, and treatment of postpartum hemorrhage? Results: This systematic review showed that uterine atony is the prevalent factor in PPH, especially in cases of severe hemorrhages. Genital organ trauma and retained tissues were also identified as risk factors, while management of the third stage of labor was the most commonly used approach for PPH. Conclusions: Obstetric professionals must be vigilant about the characteristics of hemorrhage to determine its etiology and treatment since it is an emergency that has even caused the death of some women after childbirth.
