- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoEvolución del absceso periapical en un paciente pediátrico usando la pasta CTZ informe de caso.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Ulloa Pacheco, Johanna Maribel; Vera Guerrero, Pamela Alexandra; Abad Freire, Viviana Daniela; 0105803118; 0106781982; ., .OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy usage of Chloramphenicol, Tetracycline, and Zinc (CTZ) paste in a pediatric patient as a treatment for a periapical abscess. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A female patient aged six years five months presented with pain and discomfort when chewing; in the clinical examination, a protuberance was evidenced in the upper right quadrant molars area; it was established as a possible periapical abscess, which was corroborated with the imaging diagnosis. A pulpectomy treatment was conducted via a Non-Instrumented Endodontic Technique (NIET) with the application of CTZ paste in the Pediatric Dentistry clinic of the UCACUE Dentistry Career. RESULTS: This clinical analysis showed that the CTZ paste tends to demonstrate effectiveness in patients treated with this technique; following its placement, a clinical examination showed an asymptomatic patient with no fistula, while the radiographic examination performed at 3 and 6 months revealed a reduction or stabilization of the periapical lesion as well as a correct healing effect of the periradicular osteolytic process. CONCLUSION: The use of CTZ paste as a treatment for periapical abscesses in pediatric patients showed success from the beginning of the treatment in clinical stages up to the control imaging stages, over 6 months, proper scar formation in the osteolytic process and the absence of lesions associated with the pathology were observed.
- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoHipomineralización incisivo - molar en pacientes pedriátricos(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2021) Torres Yanza, Katherine Irene; Abad Freire, Viviana Daniela; 0104596218; ., .OBJECTIVE: The objective of this work was to carry out an in-depth investigation of available data about Molar Incisor Hypomineralization in pediatric patients, in order to provide valuable information for its identification and treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The research was a qualitative-quantitative, descriptive and exploratory documentary deepening. A systematic and organized review was configured with a search strategy whose inclusion criteria were: Selection of scientific articles, clinical cases, experimental and non-experimental studies, as well as review articles published between 2015 and 2021 in both Spanish and English. that complied with the research variables, of which 52 articles were selected. RESULTS: Among the most relevant findings, the approach to risk factors associated with MIH in 32% of the articles reviewed and the treatment applied to MIH (24%) stand out, among which the following stand out: the Hall technique, crowns (of chrome-steel, zirconia or stainless steel) and fluid giomers. The average age of the children who participated in the reviewed studies was 9 years old and the average prevalence of MIH in the reviewed studies was 12.89%. CONCLUSION: The predisposing factors of this disease are associated with different causes among the most common respiratory problems, asthma, bronchitis, tonsillitis, pneumonia that occur at different stages of pregnancy. Treatments to treat MIH cases vary according to the characteristics of each patient.
- ÍtemAcceso Abierto“Prevalencia de alteraciones orales en pacientes con trastornos de lenguaje pertenecientes al proyecto UDIPSAI periodo 22-22”(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Asitimbay Paguay, Jhonatan José; Ordóñez Auquilla, José Mateo; Abad Freire, Viviana Daniela; 0302929997; 0104931803; ., .Objectives: To determine the prevalence of oral alterations in patients with language disorders from the Diagnostic, Research, Psychopedagogical, and Inclusion Support Unit (UDIPSAI by its Spanish acronym) project for 2022. Material and Methods: A retrospective study of the patients' dental and medical records referred from the speech therapy area to the clinic was conducted. Relevant data were collected, such as type of oral alteration, age, sex, speech disorder, and whether they had any oral habits. No personal patient data were used; the information was sorted using Microsoft Excel, and precise statistics of the data analyzed were obtained. Results: Twenty-two dental clinical records were examined; according to the analysis, there were 13 pathologies diagnosed in the oral mucosa, classified as alterations in the tongue, lips, gums, and teeth. All the children with a language disorder presented at least one oral alteration. Therefore, both conditions are prevalent. Children with autism and Down syndrome showed a specific language disorder due to their condition. Conclusions: The relationship between oral and language disorders is due to different factors in each individual, whether growth factors, stages of development, nutrition, socioeconomic level, lack of guidance about care and hygiene by parents who neglect children’s oral health or do not regularly visit the dentist. All this leads to alterations in the oral cavity that, in one way or another, can be detrimental to health.

According to dental caries and consumption of coladas patients who attended the Dental Specialty Centers at UCACUE Azogues Campus, no relationship was found between these two variables; nevertheless, dental hygiene should be taken into account.
- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoTratamiento conservador de la pulpa, (R.P.D.) bajo el uso de materiales bioactivos. Resumen de literatura(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2020) Córdova Toledo, Eva Jazmín; Abad Freire, Viviana Daniela; 0706616299; Morocho Camas, ÁngelThe RPD is a pulp-conserving treatment used in dental practice in children with dental pieces in the presence of deep caries and fractures at the coronal level, the use immediately of a bioactive material such as: Calcium Hydroxide, MTA, Biodentine, NeoMTA, are essential calcium-based materials that regenerate dentin, preserve dental pulp, favors the healing of the dentin-pulp complex. TARGET: the The objective of this review was to determine the most relevant aspects of the bioactive material direct pulp capping, to preserve pulp vitality in primary pieces. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A bibliographic review was carried out in databases such as Pubmed (MEDLINE), Scopus, Scielo, Cochranelibrary, 45 references based on your abstract, review articles, theses, books, electronic journal articles, dental journals, published in English, Spanish. Pulp capping articles on permanent teeth were excluded. monographs, experimental studies without satisfactory results. RESULTS: it was determined that MTA is the bioactive material used in the pulp cap direct preserving favorable characteristics in the dentin repair of use pediatric. CONCLUSION: MT A is the most used and effective biomaterial due to the correct sealing in the pulp exposure, like the other biomaterials, releases calcium or producing successful pulpal regeneration.
