Methodology: A quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive study was conducted using publicly accessible secondary data from the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC by its Spanish acronym) applied in the Province of Cañar. The unit of analysis was 107 records of surveyed individuals; the information obtained from the INEC website was exported to an Excel spreadsheet for tabulation and subsequently imported into the statistical program SPSS. Results: The median age is ten years, with higher male participation (52.3%), single marital status (39.3%), urban area residents (63.6%), and the Troncal canton having the highest percentage of participants (36.6%). (81.4%) study in the morning, (18.69%) of the population engages in a high frequency of sedentary behaviors, while (13.8%) participate in physical activity. Conclusions: According to the data obtained in this research, there is a high prevalence of physical inactivity and sedentary behavior in children and adolescents aged 5 to 17 years, one of the leading causes of sedentary lifestyles in Ecuador and worldwide.

Objective: To determine the frequency of sexual activity and sexual satisfaction levels in pregnant women. Methodology: This is an analytical study through a systematic review involving the selection of scientific articles from Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases from 2013 to 2023. The selection of articles observed the PRISMA 2020 statement guidelines. Results: The frequency of sexual intercourse in pregnant women is 76.69%, with a higher frequency in the first trimester of pregnancy at 41.46%, meanwhile, the low sexual satisfaction level reaches 38.70%. Conclusion: In pregnant women, the frequency of sexual intercourse is high, while there is not a significant difference in the sexual satisfaction levels

Objective: To determine adherence to pharmacological treatment in diabetic and hypertensive patients treated at the Mariano Estrella Health Center. Methodology: Applied, descriptive, cross-sectional research with a quantitative approach. Sample: 151 users who presented arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus and the two pathologies together. Technique: Survey. Instruments: Test to measure knowledge of the pathology and Morisky test to measure adherence to treatment. Results: 44.1% of the patients studied were between the ages of 65 and over, the female sex prevailed 57.9%, 59.9% of the patients were married, 16.4% had complete secondary education, and a similar percentage of illiteracy was noted (15.8%). Thirty-eight per cent of the patients suffered from hypertension, 33 per cent from diabetes, and 27 per cent from both diseases. Forty-six percent of the participants had a qualified level of knowledge about the pathology; with regard to adherence to treatment, 93.4% were not adherent and only 6.6% were adherent to treatment. Conclusion: The majority of the patients studied were not adherent to the pharmacological treatment, which means that where 9 out of 10 patients do not take the medication as indicated by the doctor, and have an average knowledge of the pathology they suffer from.
- ÍtemSolo MetadatosAdolescencia y conductas de riesgo en los alumnos de la unidad educativa Ambrosio Andrade Palacios en el período mayo-octubre 2018(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2019) Bermeo Narváez, Jéssica Mariuxi; Yambay Bautista, Xavier Rodrigo; 0302547807; ., .Objective: to determine the risk behaviors in the adolescents of the Unit Educational "Ambrosio Andrade Palacios" of the Ducur parish. materials and Methods: a cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out, the population was 233 adolescents, convenience sample of 145 adolescents between 14 and 18 years, from the tenth year of basic to the third year of high school. A survey was applied prepared by the researcher, validated with a reliability level of 0.72 (alpha of Cronbach), respecting ethical procedures. Results: It was found a low risk level for the development of dangerous behaviors in 100% of the teenagers. 3% prevalence in risky sexual behaviors, 7% for the violence dimension, 20% substance use, behavioral disorders food obtained 26%, suicidal behavior appeared in 31%. I know evidence that 31% of adolescents have not received education and/or promotion on these topics. Conclusions: It is concluded that within the educational unit the adolescents develop risk behaviors at a low level; nevertheless, there are dimensions that can significantly affect your life especially in relation to suicidal behaviors, eating behavior disorders and use of substances
- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoAfrontamiento e impacto en el personal de salud en áreas COVID(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2022) Pañora Chuqui, Jessica Magaly; González Rivera, Doris Marisol; Pogyo Morocho, Gloria Luzmila; 0302915038; 0302991542; ., .Antecedentes: La enfermedad por COVID-19 por su alto nivel de contagio y peligrosidad creó un fuerte impacto psicológico en los trabajadores de la salud como la depresión, ansiedad, insomnio, estrés postraumático, fobia, miedo, burnout, los mismos que están relacionadas con síntomas de angustia alteración del sueño y somatización. Objetivo: Analizar en la literatura científica el afrontamiento e impacto en el personal de salud en las áreas COVID de hospitalización. Métodos: Para la investigación se utilizó el método PRISMA, la búsqueda se realizó a través de las herramientas de información como: PubMed, SCOPUS, Web Of Science, Scielo y LILACS, entre el periodo comprendido en el 2019-2021. Resultados: Las principales conductas presentadas en el personal de salud, que laboró en las áreas COVID, fueron fatiga, niveles bajos de energía y agotamiento, estrés y estrés postraumático, ansiedad, depresión, angustia e insomnio. Conclusiones: Es necesario crear estrategias dedicadas a fomentar la salud mental en el personal sanitario con el objetivo de reducir el riesgo en los trabajadores de la salud quienes están vulnerables para desarrollar cualquier afectación en el bienestar psicológico durante el COVID-19.

Objetivo: determinar las alteraciones paraclínicas en pacientes con enfermedades no transmisibles de entre 25 y 65 años del Distrito 03D01. Tipo de estudio: de revisión documental, descriptivo, no experimental, retrospectivo con enfoque cuantitativo. Muestra: de un universo de 86223 usuarios entre 25 y 65 años se obtuvo por muestreo probabilístico aleatorio simple una muestra de 245 pacientes. Método: mediante una revisión documental los datos se detallaron en la ficha donde se constató variables sociodemográficas y exámenes paraclínicos. Resultados: el 68,2% son sexo femenino, 84,5% pertenecen a la zona rural, 71% son casados, 47,3% mantienen el nivel de instrucción primaria incompleta y 53,5% presentaron sobrepeso. La patología mayor prevalencia fue hipertensión arterial luego está diabetes; con respecto a los paraclínicos el 32,2% tenían hiperglicemia, 49% hipertrigliceridemia y 43,3% hipercolesterolemia. Conclusión: la investigación determino que HTA, DM, sobrepeso y obesidad como principales ENT. Las alteraciones paraclínicas en laboratorio fueron: alteraciones en glucemia y perfil lipídico; en la revisión documental no se encontraron datos relacionados con estilo de vida y hábitos de los pacientes.

El objetivo principal fue conocer los métodos anticonceptivos hormonales más empleados y sus efectos adversos en las estudiantes de la Universidad Católica de Cuenca sede Azogues. Se efectuó una investigación cuantitativa, descriptiva de corte transversal. La muestra estuvo conformada por 214 mujeres seleccionadas aleatoriamente, incluyendo a las estudiantes mujeres matrícula en el actual periodo académico y que llenaron el consentimiento informado, se excluyeron a las que ocupen otro tratamiento farmacológico mientras usen el anticonceptivo hormonal. Para la recolección de datos se elaboró y aplicó una encuesta virtual. Se realizó un análisis descriptivo mediante porcentajes, frecuencias y medidas de tendencia central usando el programa SPSS22. La media de la edad fue de 24 años, 34,1% eran de estado civil unión libre y 15,4% pertenecían a la carrera de medicina. En cuanto a los efectos adversos 11,2% no presentaban reacciones con los anticonceptivos orales. Las usuarias de implantes e inyecciones detallaron que su uso produce dolor de cabeza, el anticonceptivo oral fue el más empleado por la población con 41,1%. Se concluye que el anticonceptivo oral es el más empleado y no produce ningún efecto adverso.

Objective: To determine the application of the checklist of safe surgery in Traumatology, Neurosurgery and Cardiology at the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital. Methodology: Descriptive, prospective and cross-sectional study, with a non-probabilistic sample of 207 scheduled surgeries in the July-August period of 2019, as an instrument an observation sheet used by the Lcda. Izquierdo that was validated by the Dos de Mayo National Hospital, based on the Safe Surgery Checklist created by WHO. Results: First phase: Before the induction of anesthesia at this stage, nurses and anesthesiologists comply with the application of the list in cardiac surgeries in relation to the surgeon who does not specifically comply with traumatic surgeries. Second phase: Before the skin incision, nurses and surgeons comply with the process in traumatologic surgeries, unlike in nursing neurosurgery and anesthesiologists do not comply. Third phase: Before the patient leaves the operating room, the staff fully complies with the application in neurological surgeries but there is a breach in cardiac surgeries. In conclusion, it is recommended that service personnel should encourage the application of the checklist to ensure patient safety.

Methodology: Quantitative, descriptive study of a transversal cohort, the universe was of 127 nursing professionals divided respectively in the two hospitals investigated, obtaining a sample for the convenience of 59 professionals, for the data collection a survey was applied and information collection form. Results: Using the Likert scale, the following results were obtained in the Macas Hospital: 37% know the types of NANDA diagnoses, 40.7% always use them and 40.7% almost always, 44.5% always registers the nursing care plan and 40.7% never registers the evaluation of the results obtained through the interventions, unlike the Hospital de Azogues where it was evidenced that 68.9% know the types of diagnoses but the 43.7% % never apply them and 28.2% almost never, 75.1% never register the plan of care nor the evaluation of them. In the data collection form it was shown that in Macas 100% use nursing diagnoses and in Azogues 93.5% never apply them. Conclusion: It is established that the nursing professional does not use NANDA Taxonomy, NOC, NIC, in his plan of care.

Objetivo: Analizar la aplicación de los lineamientos de bioseguridad en el personal de salud durante la pandemia de Covid-19, mediante una revisión sistemática de estudios científicos relacionados. Metodología: Se llevó a cabo una revisión de bibliografía, con enfoque cualitativo, de teoría fundamentada, con los estándares de la declaración de PRISMA. Fueron incluidos artículos relacionados con el tema de estudio, publicados en el periodo 2019-2021 en los idiomas inglés y español; fueron excluidas bibliografías sin relevancia científica. Resultados: Se incluyeron un total de 26 artículos para la lectura completa y los análisis de los resultados publicados en Google Académico 58%, Scielo 19%, Scopus 15%, Web of Science 2%. Conclusión: Los trabajadores de la salud se vieron involucrados en la atención directa con los pacientes sintomatológicos y positivos a covid-19, por ello la importancia de analizar la aplicación de los lineamientos de bioseguridad como el lavado de manos, el uso de la mascarilla, el uso de las prendas de protección personal y el uso de alcohol gel.

- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoAplicaciones clínicas pediátricas de los probióticos en la primera infancia: Una revisión sistemática(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Torres Tamay, Samantha Marisol; Altamirano Cárdenas, Luis Francisco; 0302995493Probiotics are considered one of the significant advances in pediatrics, as they provide a reliable alternative to prevent and address a series of digestive disorders that may affect infants' physical growth and neuronal development. Objective: To identify the most commonly used probiotics and their benefits and adverse effects during early childhood. Methodology: This is a systematic review conducted following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, involving the selection of articles from high-impact scientific databases available at the Monseñor Froilán Pozo Quevedo Library, Catholic University of Cuenca Campus Azogues, such as PubMed, Scopus, LILACS, Redalyc, SciELO, Google Scholar, and Web of Science. Results: The most commonly used supplements include Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus GG, and Saccharomyces, with various strains targeted at treating different conditions. These compounds do not have significant adverse effects; however, typical side effects include gas, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, stomachache, bloating, and abdominal pain. Conclusions: The benefits of probiotics include the proliferation of beneficial bacteria, strengthening the immune system, regulating the pH of the digestive tract, and providing nutritional support
- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoAtención de enfermería y aplicación de los principios bioéticos en pacientes internos en el hospital Vicente Corral Moscoso, mayo-octubre 2018(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2018) Marca Remache, Manuel Jesús; Estrella González, María de los Ángeles; 0302317359; ., .Bioethical principles should be applied in nursing practice in order to improve the health and quality of life of patients, in the present investigation it is intended to analyze the application of bioethical principles in nursing care in patients hospitalized in Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, May - September 2018, descriptive quantitative study, cross-sectional, observational cohort, with a sample of 44 professionals, a survey and an observational record were applied (instruments applied at the National University of Chimborazo 2015). Results: 90.9% corresponds to female staff, only 9.1% is male. 34.1% of professionals work less than a year, between one and two years 27.3% and more than two years between 18 to 20%; 100% know the bioethical principles; 81.8% of professionals provide information while 18.2% indicate that they are not authorized to provide information. With regard to informed consent, 68.1% provide complete information, and less than 18% of professionals do not; 100% know the rights of patients, only 79.5% indicated more than three rights of the five described, while, 20.5% indicated less than three or none. The nursing activities observed in their entirety respond to: Always performed, sometimes and never, with percentages similar to 50%. Concluding that the results of the survey in comparison with the results of the observational record, carry different responses to what was indicated by the professional and what was observed by the researcher.

The objective of the study was to determine the self-care of diabetic patients treated at the José Carrasco Arteaga Specialty Hospital. Cuenca September 2018 - February 2019. Methodology: A quantitative study was carried out. cross-sectional description. The sample consisted of 108 patients from the Diabetic Club. as technique A survey prepared by the researchers was used according to the variables of the study topic. For the analysis of the information, Microsoft Excel 2016 and SPSS were used; where are the frequencies and percentages. Results: 68.5% are older than 65 years with a mean of 68 ± 9.9 and the limits between 41 to 87 years, 59.3% are female; 71.3% reside in the urban area, 50% with primary education; 75.9% perform physical activity, of which 62.8% walk; 36.1% have adequate foot hygiene; and 78.7% consume a mixed diet. Conclusions: Diabetics with greater self-care are older adults and the physical activity they perform is walking

Objective: To evaluate the self-perception of the nursing role in primary health care (PHC) in Déleg Canton, July - October 2022. Methodology: Qualitative-quantitative study, descriptive and grounded theory type, through a semi-structured interview, where information was collected from ten nursing professionals in PHC. Results: Among the sociodemographic data, 100% of the participating population is female, with an age range from 30 to 58 years and an average of 47.8; in terms of years of service, the content goes from 7 to 34 years with an average of 15.6 years; in the level of education, 70% hold a third level degree and 30% a fourth level degree. The self-perception of the role of nursing functions in PHC among the staff is optimal and satisfactory because there is a good relationship among colleagues, providing quality care to patients and testing their theoretical and practical knowledge. Conclusion: Self-perception within the nursing role in PHC allows us to improve the quality of care, prioritizing intra and extra-mural activities.
