Methodology: The present study is a systematic review using the prism method, carried out under a qualitative approach, considering 30 publications obtained from scientific databases such as Web of Science, MedLine/Scopus, Lilacs, PubMed, SciELO, and Redalyc. Results: The studies reviewed indicate that the nursing care applied in central venous catheter care is related to three fundamental aspects: insertion, handling, and removal of the device. These complications can be mechanical and infectious, and the factors that influence noncompliance with catheter management are lack of knowledge of the correct technique, excessive workload, noncompliance with protocols, and a shortage of supplies, among others. Conclusions: Determinants influencing noncompliance with nursing care in central venous catheter management include a lack of knowledge among nursing staff, excessive workload, a shortage of sanitary supplies, limited patient collaboration, and the absence of manuals outlining staff responsibilities.
