Anteproyecto de albergue municipal para personas en situación de calle en la Ciudad de Cuenca

Abstract

The research proposes the design of a integrated municipal shelter in the city of Cuenca, aimed at assisting homeless people through a social, architectural, and humanitarian approach. It is based on the lack of public infrastructure that provides dignified care, rehabilitation, and social reintegration. The study justifies its importance due to its social and urban impact, as it offers inclusive, sustainable, and replicable solutions that promote equity and community cohesion. Its benefits lie in providing an architectural model that can be adapted to public social welfare policies, with economic and scientific advantages, by optimizing resources and generating knowledge that can be applied to sustainable social design. The overall objective is to design a functional, accessible, and sustainable shelter that contributes to the reintegration and improvement of the quality of life of the vulnerable populations. The research is descriptive and project-based, with a quantitative and qualitative approach. A total of 384 surveys were administered to residents of the Sucre parish using simple random sampling. The results show broad public support and technical feasibility for its implementation, consolidating a proposal that articulates inclusion, dignity, and sustainability.
