Abstract

Introduction: the nursing care process (PAE) is a theoretical and scientific nursing method that facilitates comprehensive patient care. Objective: to determine the application of the nursing care process at the IESS Hospital in Machala. Methodology: non-experimental, descriptive-correlational, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, with a sample of 105 nursing professionals from different areas. Results: the average age was 36 years old, time of service 9 years, the obstetric center is the area with the highest number of nurses (n=22, %), the level of knowledge of the PAE was regular in 49.5% of the cases, as for the level of application of the PAE the results obtained indicate that 94.3% apply it optimally, and with regard to the factors that make the EAP difficult, it was found that 67.6% have an optimal score; when Spearman's Rho was applied, it was shown that there is no correlation between the stages of application of the EAP and the sociodemographic conditions. Conclusion: the mean age was 36 years old, the average time of service was 9 years, most of them have regular knowledge about ECP, but most of them apply the ECP in an optimal way, the time is insufficient and there is a lack of institutional recognition and nursing assessment record.
