The overall objective of the study was to analyze the detection of Staphylococcus aureus in water and surface samples from recreational swimming pools. To conduct the study, the researchers set out to investigate, collect data, and perform a critical analysis. They based their work on a literature review of peer-reviewed articles in highimpact databases. The inductive-deductive method was applied. This was supplemented by the collection of water samples using aseptic techniques, with sterilized 500-ml glass bottles, in accordance with Ecuadorian standards NTE-INEN2-176 and NTP 689, and transported to the laboratory at the Catholic University of Cuenca, where microbiological analyses were performed. It is concluded that the presence of microbial growth on the plates from the water samples and the evaluated surfaces represents a potential health risk to users, specifically when they have open wounds or skin lesions.
