Manejo de la conducta del paciente pediátrico mediante el método Decir-Mostrar-Hacer. Revisión bibliográfica

Abstract

Summary: Introduction: The management of the pediatric patient's behavior has been seen as an inconvenience during dental consultation since lots of patients do not collaborate, due to this, the Tell-Show-Do Technique is applied which leads the dentist to give verbal explanation and demonstration of what is going to be done during consultation, thus achieving the conclusion of the dental procedure. Objective: To learn about the management of pediatric patient behavior with the Tell-Show-Do technique by a literature review. Methodology: The method applied for the literature review was the search for articles in digital databases such as: Elsevier, PubMed, Scielo, Mediagraphic, Redalyc, Researchgate, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar, employing inclusion and exclusion criteria, in addition the it was used the Mendeley Desktop and Microsoft Excel 2016 tools for organization and systematization of the information. Results: From a total of 47 preselected articles, 13 articles were used, and these 5 mention the Tell-Show-Do technique as effective in the management of pediatric patient behavior and another 11 articles that refer to information on pediatric dentistry topics. Conclusion: It is fundamentally important that the dentist knows how to manage the behavior of pediatric patients with the appropriate methods and techniques to reduce or eradicate traumas and negative attitudes towards dental treatment, one of the main and most used being the Tell- Show-Do Technique
