This bacterium has become a risk factor that triggers multiple conditions of the digestive system, including deep lesions that develop into gastric ulcers. Given the considerable complexity of this topic, a systematic review was conducted on the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori as a risk factor for gastric ulcers in Ecuador. The study methodology employed a qualitative approach, utilizing a systematic review design of studies published in academic and scientific databases, including PubMed, SciELO, ProQuest, LILACS, among others. Among the main findings, it was observed that Helicobacter pylori is identified as a bacterium capable of causing significant pathologies of the digestive system, with a high prevalence in the Ecuadorian population, affecting between 60% and 70% of cases. Furthermore, 31.11% of patients with digestive pathologies are infected by this bacterium.
