Ítem Acceso Abierto Evolución del absceso periapical en un paciente pediátrico usando la pasta CTZ informe de caso.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Ulloa Pacheco, Johanna Maribel; Vera Guerrero, Pamela Alexandra; Abad Freire, Viviana Daniela; 0105803118; 0106781982; ., .OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy usage of Chloramphenicol, Tetracycline, and Zinc (CTZ) paste in a pediatric patient as a treatment for a periapical abscess. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A female patient aged six years five months presented with pain and discomfort when chewing; in the clinical examination, a protuberance was evidenced in the upper right quadrant molars area; it was established as a possible periapical abscess, which was corroborated with the imaging diagnosis. A pulpectomy treatment was conducted via a Non-Instrumented Endodontic Technique (NIET) with the application of CTZ paste in the Pediatric Dentistry clinic of the UCACUE Dentistry Career. RESULTS: This clinical analysis showed that the CTZ paste tends to demonstrate effectiveness in patients treated with this technique; following its placement, a clinical examination showed an asymptomatic patient with no fistula, while the radiographic examination performed at 3 and 6 months revealed a reduction or stabilization of the periapical lesion as well as a correct healing effect of the periradicular osteolytic process. CONCLUSION: The use of CTZ paste as a treatment for periapical abscesses in pediatric patients showed success from the beginning of the treatment in clinical stages up to the control imaging stages, over 6 months, proper scar formation in the osteolytic process and the absence of lesions associated with the pathology were observed.
