Ítem Acceso Abierto “Tratamiento temprano de la mordida profunda: Revisión de la literatura.”(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Muñoz Narváez, Jazmín del Rosario; Delgado López, María Augusta; 0302884721; ., .OBJECTIVE: To determine the appropriate alternatives for early treatment of deep bite through a comprehensive review of the literature. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study is a literature review; information was searched in the scientific databases PubMed, SciELO, Google Scholar, Redalyc, Cochrane, Web of Science, Researchgate, and Scopus, using the search equation with the critical terms interspersed by Boolean operators and - or, assigning inclusion criteria as original articles, literature reviews, systematic reviews, case reports, books (with full text, in English and Spanish that are related to the topic), and exclusion criteria as those documents that did not refer to the topic. RESULTS: Twenty-four articles using the search strategy were selected; these papers met the established method and provided information on the early treatment of overbite using functional appliances such as Herbst, Bionator, Twin Blocks, Bite Plane, Myofunctional Trainer, Frankel II, Bimler type B modeler, etc., which provide permanent positive effects and gain of 3 mm to 5 mm in terms of bite raising. CONCLUSIONS: The appliances reviewed as an early treatment option used in deep bite allow significant permanent changes in the stomatognathic system in patients treated during the growth stages, create occlusal harmony, and improve the quality of life; among the appliances that provide better results are the Twin Blocks, bite plate, Bionator, and Herbst.
