Ítem Acceso Abierto Enfermedad de Moyamoya(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Neira Narvaéz, María de los Angeles; Yánez Castro, Jorge Luis; 0350027181Introduction and objective: Moyamoya Disease occurs in < 1% of the population worldwide, being more prevalent in Asian countries compared to Latin America, where few cases have been reported. However, no cases related to this disease have been described in our country so far. The diagnosis relies on clinical observations, along with angiographic stricture scans of the Circle of Willis. An endovascular treatment presents an effective therapeutic option. The objective of this case report is to determine Moyamoya Disease due to its low prevalence. Clinical case: It is observed a thirty six-year-old male patient with a history of physical and intellectual disability of 50%. He attended presenting a severe headache accompanied by syncope, secondary to hemorrhagic stroke under clinical treatment. After complementary examinations, a diagnosis of Moyamoya Disease was made. The patient remained hospitalized for 28 days, and was clinically and hemodynamically stabilized, and was awaiting surgical treatment. Conclusion: Moyamoya Disease is considered an uncommon disorder worldwide and, in our midst, its diagnosis is made with clinical and angiotomography. An endovascular treatment can be an effective alternative. Additionally, he also presents complications, such as: cognitive impairment affecting memory, attention, executive function, physical disability, and aphasia, having an impact on the patient's quality of life.
