El deporte adaptado como alternativa de vida para las personas con discapacidad

This research highlights the benefits of adapted sports in people with disabilities, who can improve their quality of life by practicing a sport in a planned and systematic way. This study analyzes the advantages of the systematic practice of adapted sports as a life alternative for people with disabilities. The research has a cross-sectional descriptive scope with a quantitative approach. The population comprised 42 parents of the ‘Luis Segundo Alfonso Coronel Andrade’ Educational Unit, an institution for people with disabilities. A questionnaire of 13 questions related to the benefits of adapted sports for people with disabilities was applied, and it was revised and validated by experts in physical activity and sports. According to the respondents, practicing adapted sports improves socialization, self-esteem, and emotional management. The conclusion shows that planned and systematic participation in adapted sports contributes to a better quality of life for people with disabilities.
