Ítem Acceso Abierto Tipificación sanguínea en gatos domésticos mediante reacción de aglutinación en el barrio de Cristo Salvador - Cuenca(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Campoverde Andrade, Alan Fernando; Rubio Arias , Pablo Giovanny; 0150909687Blood typing in cats refers to the classification of different feline blood groups according to the presence or absence of specific antigens on the surface of red blood cells. Unlike humans, where the ABO blood group system is used internationally, there are no universally recognized types of blood for cats. Not knowing a cat's blood group can lead to severe reactions or even death of the patient. The main objective of this research was to establish blood typing in domestic cats from the Cristo Salvador neighborhood in Cuenca using an agglutination reaction. Thirty-three mixed-breed male and female cats were evaluated for this study. The results showed that blood type A is more prevalent than other blood groups. Based on these results, it was concluded that sex does not determine blood type; however, further evaluation of blood group prevalence in other areas is necessary.
