Ítem Acceso Abierto Hábitos alimentarios y su relacón con el estado nutricional en escolares(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Rojas Cardenas, Diego Fernando; Jiménez Negrón, Ruth Priscilla; Jaya Vásquez, Lilia Carina; 010473189-8; 070577955-1Eating habits are customs acquired through food consumption, developed over time through repetition, and adopted as normal, one of the factors that influence the growth, academic Development, and social well-being of school children throughout their lives. Objective: To identify eating habits and their relationship with the nutritional status of schoolchildren. Methodology: Narrative literatura review in scientific databases, including SciELO, Redalyc, Web of Science, Virtual Health Library, Ministry of Public Health, Medigraphic, United Nations Children's Fund, and National Institute of Statistics and Census. In addition, Health Science Descriptors (DeCS) and Boolean operators ¨AND¨ and ¨OR¨ were used to search between the years 2019 and 2023. Results: Worldwide. 200 million youngsters are overweight, which represents 10% of overweight schoolchildren, while 40 to 50 million minors are obese, accounting for between two and three percent of all children in the world. In Ecuador, 14,2 % of schoolchildren do not grow properly, 20,6% are overweight, and 14,8% are obese. Conclusions: Faced with public health problem, the nursing staff should focus on schoolchildren in raising awareness for healthy food consumption, performing school health, and creating and participating in events and workshops for health promotion and preventing diseases due to eating habits.
