- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoVariación de los niveles de testosterona en cuyes suplementados con linaza desde la fase recria-comercial(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Acevedo Lema, Oscar Giovanny; Iñiguez Heredia, Flanklin; 0302880133This research aimed to evaluate the effect of flaxseed supplementation on testosterone variation in different production phases in male guinea pigs. Eighty animals 30 days of age were distributed in a completely randomized design in 4 treatments and two research phases. Rearing Phase 1: Control, T1 (Flaxseed 20g), T2 (Flaxseed 40g) and T3 (Flaxseed 80g); Commercial Phase: Control, T1 (Flaxseed 30g), T2 (Flaxseed 60g) and T3 (Flaxseed 120g), with four replicates and five animals per pool. Productive parameters, carcass presentation, and total testosterone levels were evaluated. The results of the productive parameters showed differences between treatments concerning feed consumption (p<0,05), registering the highest intake of feed in the first phase in T3 (Flaxseed 80 g and 120 g), with 639.01g, and for the second phase, 934g; likewise, the best cumulative feed conversion in the first phase was 4,26. Regarding the variable of aggressiveness, it was evident that the control treatment T0 presented the highest number of lacerations (10 wounds) located anatomically on the animal's rump, back, and dorsum. As for the total testosterone levels, it was observed that at days 30, 60, and 90, there were no statistical differences (p>0.05). It is concluded that adding flaxseed in different phases has a positive affect on production parameters, slightly improves carcass quality, and has no positive affect on testosterone levels.
