- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoEficiencia de plantas de tratamiento tipo para agua residual implementadas en la parroquia Luis Cordero del cantón Azogues(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2021) Criollo Almache, Andrés Josué; Palomeque Larriva, Goethe Emmanuel; 0104826151; ., .The objective of this work was to analyze the purification efficiency of the wastewater treatment that were implemented in the communities of María Auxiliadora and Quillopungo from the rural area of the Azogues canton. These treatment systems are composed of a septic tank and an anaerobic filter, which purify the residual water for avoid the pollution that would be generated by the discharge of effluents to a receiving body. The The development method consisted of conducting a health survey of the population served, an analysis of the infrastructure of the plants, capacity of the inlet and discharge flows, as well as the evaluation of the purification efficiency through the characterization of the water, identifying the level of concentration of pollutants present in the wastewater and the receiving body for end with the estimation of the assimilation capacity of the Biblicay river after the discharge of the effluent. Identifying problems such as the limitations of the infrastructure in relation to the design, in addition, determining that the concentration of contaminants in the parameters analyzed is high and therefore the debugging process is deficient, generating that the level of self-purification of the receiving body water is very low and takes too long to stabilize. Thus concluding, that the type of effluent discharged by the treatment plants does not contribute to the benefit of the environment or the inhabitants of the parish.
- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoEstimación de datos faltantes de precipitaciones en las estaciones metereológicas de la microcuenca del río Tabacay(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2021) Castañeda Domínguez, Byron Stalin; Palomeque Larriva, Goethe Emmanuel; 0302497789; ., .This work applied and compared statistical methodologies to evaluate missing precipitation data series in the operational and monitoring meteorological equipment of the Tabacay River micro basin, to identify a method that provides reliable results for use in different areas of research. For the application and identification of the methodologies involved in the study, the fluviometric records of the meteorological teams of Condoryacu, Nudpud, Llaucay, and Guapán were used, then goodness-of-fit methods were applied, such as the coefficient of determination, Pearson correlation coefficient, standard error of estimation and the "ANOVA" test to accept or discard the reference data sets for the calculation. The results were validated with the elimination of complete data intervals and subsequent filling through the statistical methods, in order to identify the discrepancy between the calculated and eliminated data; therefore, in the selection of the methodology that best fits the real values, different methods were identified and are depending on the meteorological equipment in which it is applied. The application of statistical methods proves to be an essential tool in the data filling; however, some methodologies stand out in the quality of the estimation, this research work seeks to contribute to the filling of reliable precipitation measurements in the meteorological equipment of the Tabacay river micro-basin.
- ÍtemAcceso Abierto“Estudio hidrológico para factibilidad de un embalse de agua en la ciudad de Azogues”(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Vélez Redrován, Rodrigo Eduardo; Verdugo Tenesaca, Carlos Daniel; Palomeque Larriva, Goethe Emmanuel; 0302968433; 0302802020; ., .Through a hydrological analysis, this study presents a strategy for water supply in Azogues city: the construction of a reservoir that supplies water to the urban and rural areas, for this the basin of the Molobog and Llaucay sectors was delimited utilizing GIS software. Likewise, the number of the curve of each basin was analyzed to apply the AHP multicriteria election process, where Molobog resulted to be the most favorable. The water balance was based on a runoff volume through the HEC-HMS software using the SCS methodology with design hyetograms determined by two procedures: alternating and triangular blocks. In addition, the analysis of potential evapotranspiration was conducted using the method proposed by Thornthwaite. An ecological flow of 10\% was considered concerning the average monthly flow, thus obtaining the monthly accumulation volume of water, presenting a 45m height reservoir that will supply 20\% of the required demand.
- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoEvaluación de funcionamiento de las plantas de tratamiento de aguas residuales del cantón El Tambo(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2021) Arellano Zambrano, Alex Fabián; Palomeque Larriva, Goethe Emmanuel; 0301942777; ., .This research evaluated the operation of wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) in the urban and rural areas of El Tambo canton, as well as the degree of contamination they generate in the Cañar and San Antonio rivers. The WWTPs have physical and biological treatment levels; therefore, the study includes the evaluation of the existing treatment units and calibration of the "Streeter and Phelps" model of oxygen consumption in rivers, through the characterization of wastewater and natural water, in order to know the current operation of the WWTPs and the actual pollution produced by their effluents in the Cañar and San Antonio rivers. The results of the investigation show that the quality of the final effluents complies with current regulations, despite the low removal percentages that they present concerning those expected in the structures built; on the other hand, the dimensions of the purification units meet the demands of flow and pollutant load except for the settling tank Imhoff of the WWTP "El Muelle". On the other hand, the WWTP of the urban area requires the implementation of a pre-treatment that prevents the passage of thick materials. According to the modeling made, the rivers present oxygen levels above those established in the standard for the different water uses. Finally, this analysis establishes recommendations to improve the operation of the WWTPs based on the deficiencies found in the treatment systems, to achieve greater removal efficiency, and thus improve the problems of unhealthy conditions in the canton.
- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoEvaluación de la red de distribución de agua potable del sector dos de Narrio del cantón Cañar(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2022) Molina Andrade, Maria del Carmen; Palomeque Larriva, Goethe Emmanuel; 0302745856; ., .The present study focuses on the hydraulic evaluation of the Narrio dos drinking water distribution network of the Cañar canton, which supplies part of the urban and rural areas of the canton, made up of family homes, educational institutions, public institutions and restaurants. . The drinking water matrix in the Cañar canton is made up of low-density polyethylene pipes from 1" to 4" and PVC pipes with a diameter of 63mm, 110mm and 160mm. The topography of the place under study is made up of critical zones, where the existing pressure in the drinking water matrix is of vital importance for its correct operation. The evaluation of the network was carried out by recording consumption and pressure in homes in the study area, statistical analysis of data and modeling in a Software, the results found indicate that in the Byron Serpa citadel there is not enough pressure for the correct functioning of the sanitary devices inside the houses, while, in other points of the network, there are pressures that are within and above the limits recommended by current regulations, data that are reflected in the created pressure maps. This research contains pressure maps of the area under study and establishes possible recommendations to improve the operation of the distribution network, mitigating existing problems due to low pressures, in order to improve the service provided to users, with future complementary studies on the subject.
- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoPropuesta de tratamiento de aguas residuales descargadas en la quebrada Huizhil de la ciudad de Cuenca(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2021) Espinoza Esquivel, María Doménica; Palomeque Larriva, Goethe Emmanuel; 0302596622; ., .The lack of a wastewater treatment system in the Huizhil ravine of Baños of Cuenca has generated pollution problems in the water and backs of the stream. This work aims to propose an adequate treatment method that reduces water pollution and provides a better living standard for the population. A survey to collect information of the Huizhil area was carried out determining design parameters such as population, flow, and water quality through statistical analysis, laboratory test, and field tests, a bibliographic review was applied to evaluate the biodigester and wetland treatment systems, proposing a technical proposal on these methods, hoping that their use will generate a reduction of impacts. The parameters established for the design of wastewater treatment systems are capable of providing a good service to the population, providing reliability and economy for a long time. As a result, a Rotoplas self-cleaning biodigester with a capacity of 3000 liters, and a horizontal subsurface flow wetland with a required area of 175 m^2 were proposed. The same ones that, by working together, guarantee that the wastewater from the Huizhil stream will reduce its degree of contamination, providing adequate social well-being for the residents of the area, and a low budget for construction and maintenance.
