Ítem Acceso Abierto Efectos del sedentarismo y sus consecuencias en edades escolares: una revisión bibliográfica(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2025) Yubi Auqui, Jenny Cecilia; Torres Palchisaca, Zoila Guillermina; 0302501705Currently, the advanced development of technology has influenced changes in the habits of school-aged children. Video games and online games replace physical activities, as children prefer to stay behind a screen. Thus, the general research objective was to identify the effects of sedentary behavior and its consequences in school-aged children through a literature review. The methodology was qualitative and descriptive. A literature review was conducted using digital databases, focusing on scientific articles published in Spanish in the last 10 years, excluding theses and monographs. The results revealed that the most common causes of sedentary behavior in school-aged children are the excessive use of electronic devices, a sedentary family lifestyle, and a poor diet. The most significant consequences of this behavior are associated with an increased risk of early-onset chronic diseases such as obesity, overweight, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, as well as stress, anxiety, depression, and sleep disorders. In conclusion, considering that sedentary behavior is a growing phenomenon among school-aged children, it is essential to improve regular physical activity levels in this age group through more active lifestyles, starting with the family unit and educational institutions. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the significance of psychological training through a literature review to improve the performance of youth soccer players. A qualitative and descriptive methodology was employed. Information was collected from databases such as Redalyc, Google Scholar, Scopus, and the virtual library of the Catholic University of Cuenca. The search used keywords such as psychological training, sports performance, youth soccer players, self-confidence, and concentration. The inclusion criteria involved scientific articles published in English and Spanish within the last 10 years, while the exclusion criteria included monographs, non-academic articles, and essays. Eighteen studies were analyzed, identifying two categories: psychological training and sports performance. The findings determine that the most common psychological training techniques include Jacobson’s progressive relaxation, mental visualization, breathing exercises, concentration, activation, stress control, team cohesion, relaxation techniques, and mindfulness strategies. These interventions consistently demonstrated progress in areas such as motivation, self-confidence, team cohesion, concentration, attention, self-esteem, stress reduction, and overall sports performance. In conclusion, psychological training is a crucial dimension for improving competitive performance, supporting emotional well-being, and promoting the athletic careers of youth soccer players.
