This research analyzes the social network Instagram as an object of study to determine the state of brand awareness of the Catholic University of Cuenca, using qualitative and quantitative analysis. The first survey was conducted to consult a person's mental associations when listening to the university’s name. Thanks to this compilation, a word cloud was created that can be used to create a content schedule focused on reinforcing the favorable terms and changing the negative ones. In the quantitative analysis, the behavior of metrics on Instagram was studied from a statistical point of view. The research focused on measuring whether there is a positive correlation between likes and the reach of a publication. Using Excel pivot tables, the average monthly space was analyzed to relate it to the number of posts per month; with this analogy, it was understood how the number of posts published affects the reach. This research concluded that the brand is handled positively because there is a more significant number of mental associations, and the average monthly reach grew during the range of time analyzed. Thanks to this, it is possible to use this communication channel to reinforce brand awareness and maintain a strong positioning against other universities.

The new digital environment in which journalistic activity takes place requires ethical norms adapted to the new space. For this reason, it is necessary to carry out a study that generates a guide for journalists in the digital age regarding the ethical management of the informative contents that are disseminated on the web. The use of Facebook as a means to publicize the information immediately has become a double-edged sword for communicators. So, if on the one hand this cyberspace tool favors a greater dissemination of information, on the other hand, the rush to multiply the news and deliver it instantly affects the quality and veracity of the same.

This scientific article intends to contribute and propose information on the ethical treatment of event information (red chronicle) in the media: El Extra and El Comercio, in its digital version. Two media with national coverage and located in Guayaquil and Quito, respectively. In this research, the main theoretical references on ethics are detailed, such as the assumptions related to veracity, verification, diversity, and contrast of sources, among other notions of the journalistic profession. It details, analyzes, and infers the criteria of journalism students at the Catholic University of Cuenca regarding the approach to information, as well as the criteria of experts with data based on the technique of observation of the topics and informative content. A scope is sought to understand the analysis and contribution of this type of information in the construction of the criterion of public opinion, goal, and fundamental pillar of the contribution of journalism in contemporary society.

It is interesting to know the participation generated by the content in the followers. The axes of this research are oriented in two directions: one has to do with the use of content by newspapers and the other on the interactivity of users. Observation technique was applied to obtain data referring to the published type of content and its interactivity included as “likes”, “comments” and “sharing”, during the election campaign of sectional elections which took place on February 5 and ended on March 21, 2019. Therefore, the article focuses on analyzing the level of interactivity of the journalistic contents in El Mercurio and El Tiempo newspapers on Facebook.
- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoAnálisis de la producción de noticias de los medios de comunicación cuencanos en la red social Tik-tok(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Cuji Vásquez, Franklin Patricio; Cordero Coellar, Edgar Vicente; 1753263993This is a qualitative, descriptive, and literature review research, which aims to contribute and propose information on the production of news of the media "El Mercurio," "La Voz Del Tomebamba," and "Unsión TV" within the social network TikTok in Cuenca through the collection of information using the observation method and semi-structured interviews with specialists in digital communication and social network areas. The social network TikTok is a recent platform in communication and journalism; these spaces are usually labeled only as entertainment and irrelevant content. However, the audience prefers spaces with which it identifies, so the media must produce news to reach that audience without losing journalistic and ethical qualities. For communication professionals, it is essential to analyze this type of content in the media in Cuenca to find out if it provides information and seeks specific adaptation for TikTok.

Therefore, this research work focuses on the management of Facebook as a social network and on the institutional website that are the information channels of the Catholic University of Cuenca in the internal and external environment. This article presents the analysis of the digital environments and their application in the internal communication and its impact on the students of the Catholic University of Cuenca, to demonstrate the technological influence that the institution has to capture the attention of its audience. The research methodology focuses on the descriptive and qualitative analysis that exhibits and defends digital convergence. Analyzing the growth of visits within the platforms already mentioned, this led us to know specific data on the subject of multimedia.

It is necessary to know in the first instance if this branch of advertising is more used than the conventional way of promotion in Cuenca, for this, we resorted to one of the most prominent private companies in this area in the city as it is "Signal X" . The purpose of this work focuses on the social network Instagram of the aforementioned company to know brand characteristics, trends in social networks and the use they give to the digital tools provided by them as marketing strategies, also to know if there is money defined for this sector or department within the company, and thus be able to see if the digital tools provided by social networks, specifically by Instagram are used correctly in one of the largest advertising companies in Cuenca as it is Signal X.

It is qualitative and quantitative, focused on virtual ethnography through observation techniques, surveys, and interviews with specialists and professionals to inquire about the contribution of this resource in the construction of information. The podcast is audiovisual content that allows the users to watch it whenever they wishe. The content should be a digital audio file that users can access and listen to whenever and wherever they want, through any device. Its contribution is evident in communication, education, entertainment, and everything of interest to the consumer. This medium or channel differs from others because it allows the user to have immediate quality information and occupies little space on a device with global reach. The podcast as an information tool allows the media to increase visits and share multimedia content, contributing to interactivity with Internet users.

Citizens with mobile devices broadcast any event, so it is necessary to conduct a research under the line of Digital Journalism, the process of exploration and determination of mobile journalism will be primarily qualitative, to understand its definition, analyze the emergence of new mobile independent journalists within the journalistic context, and discover with what objects, platforms and other applications a mobile journalistic exercise is carried out.
- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoEstudio de recepción de contenidos en radio F.M de Cuenca con el cumplimiento del artículo 8 de la LOC(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2021) Méndez Bravo, José Santiago; Cordero Coellar, Edgar Vicente; 0102880606This investigation on the reception of communication contents broadcasted by FM radio stations in the city of Cuenca seeks to analyze the compliance with article 8 of the Organic Law on Communication, approved on June 21, 2013, and reformed on February 14, 2019, by the National Assembly. The problem that we raise is to identify what content is being broadcast by the FM radio media in the city of Cuenca. The research method is qualitative within the type of descriptive research. The techniques applied are bibliographic review, interviews with experts, and application of focus groups with professionals in the field of journalism and communication. The research pursues to identify whether the media comply partially or totally with what is indicated in Article 8 of the Organic Law on Communication, which states that the media must predominantly disseminate informative, educational, and cultural content and that these must aim at the quality and dissemination of the values and rights contained in the international instruments ratified by Ecuador and in the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador.

The technological evolution, and therefore the communicational transformation, allows various media, whose format is conventional, to adapt to the new digital spaces. Thus this research work formulates a proposal for a digital magazine that collects and disseminates the contents of the undertakings using the tools of emerging technology. On the other hand, in the last decades, entrepreneurship has been increasingly consolidated within the community, and with greater impact during the COVID 19 pandemic, this due to the growing need to innovatively develop new forms of social capital. In the era of digital convergence, it is essential to have a communication strategy that allows the project or enterprise to be seen by millions of users connected to the network. For this reason, it is vital to look for alternatives such as the creation of a digital magazine that contributes to the diffusion of these local businesses.

And through digital journalism and its multimedia facet, we can give a relatively broad touch of interactivity to the product, through photography, audio, video and text, which will make it a more striking magazine seen from the audiovisual and photographic point. As it is a digital journalistic product, it is strongly related to the Strategic Communication in the promotion of Gualaquiza canton, which entails strengthening the cultural and natural sector of the aforementioned place, directly entering the tourism sector of the area, through different research methodologies that allow us to locate weak and strong points of the cultural and tourist sector of Gualaquiza canton, to later reinforce them through the digital magazine to be created.

In this way, this research aims to study the impact of social networks, Facebook specifically on interpersonal communication for Journalism students at the Catholic University of Cuenca, taking into account that those students were valued between the ages of 18 and 25, due to it is a generation deeply marked by the incessant evolution of Information and Social Communication Technologies (CT), both in public and private spheres.

Social networks provide an interactive environment where people can share and discuss news, opinions, and events. These digital media have become a fundamental part of many people's daily lives and have transformed how they access information and connect with the world.

Social networks in digital marketing have turned into an effective phenomenon in digital communication, allowing companies and users to interact, which helps to build confidence and common sense among consumers. The main objective of this proposal is to propose a social network management model for business promotion and to understand its use and role as a business strategy. The methodology and collection of the data used in this research project were through a bibliographical review, which allowed us to gather the most relevant studies, research, data, and theoretical information regarding the research problem. In addition, monitoring the advertising pages of the two micro-companies cited as case studies were applied to understand their management and social network use. In addition, interviews were conducted with specialists and experts on digital communication and social media management. Finally, focus groups of micro-entrepreneurs on the relevance, management, and use of social media to promote their businesses.

It is a qualitative analysis supported by observation, interview with experts, surveys and focus group in order to know the new trends in programming on social networks and propose a communication product that is framed in the requirements of current audiences, according to the narratives of cyberspace and supported by interactivity as one of the factors with the greatest impact in the digital age.
