Ítem Acceso Abierto Consumo de alcohol en adolescentes y sus efectos en la familia.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Lojano Mogrovejo , Edisson; Toral Duchi , Bryam; Quito Tapia, Fausto; 0107477481; 0105914048Alcohol consumption during adolescence is associated with various negative consequences for mental health, such as recurrent episodes of alcohol intoxication, deterioration of inhibitory control, and increasing psychological dependence on alcohol. These manifestations can affect neurocognitive development and increase the risk of mood disorders and impulsive behaviors. These problems can drastically alter the mood and behavior of adolescents, negatively affecting their relationships, performance at home, and academic performance. According to the World Health Organization, alcoholism is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. The purpose of this research was to identify alcohol consumption in adolescents and its repercussions on thefamily. To do so, articles were consulted in various databases, including Scopus, Web of Science, Redalyc, SciELO, and PubMed. A literature review was conducted using a qualitative approach with a descriptive scope. It was concluded that alcohol consumption constitutes a public health problem with global implications. The research conducted has identified a considerable prevalence of young people with problematic alcohol consumption in Latin America, who, for the most part, seek to build their identity or are influenced by sociocultural factors. This phenomenon significantly impacts adolescents' physical health, psychological wellness, and interpersonal relationships, negatively affecting their family and social dynamics. Furthermore, it exposes young people to high risks of emotional harm, affective disorders, and family conflict without full awareness of the long-term repercussions.
