dc.descriptionOBJETIVO: Calcular el índice de Higiene Oral Simplificado comunitario en los escolares de 6 años de la parroquia Sayausi en el año 2016. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: La metodología aplicada fue tipo cuantitativa, el diseño fue descriptivo, de técnica observacional, transversal actual. La muestra estuvo constituida por 158 fichas de escolares de 6 años. Los datos se obtuvieron de la base de datos EPI info, el diagnóstico fue realizado por operadores que estuvieron calibrados bajo criterios del Índice de Higiene Oral Simplificado (IHO-S) de Greene y Vermillon. RESULTADOS: Los resultados de Índice de Higiene Oral obtenidos en la parroquia fueron; 29% de escolares con nivel EXCELENTE, 65% con nivel BUENO y 6% con nivel REGULAR. Los pacientes de sexo masculino presentaron: 29% EXCELENTE; 65% BUENO y 6 % REGULAR, en el femenino 29% EXCELENTE 64% BUENO y 7% REGULAR; no mostraron diferencia estadísticamente significativa. Según el tipo de establecimiento educativo si se encontró diferencia significativa; en el fiscal: 25% EXCELENTE 67% BUENO y 8% REGULAR, mientras que en el sector particular 48% EXCELENTE; 52% BUENO; 0% REGULAR. El análisis del Índice de Placa Blanda se presenta el diente 26 con el mayor Índice de Placa Blanda y el diente 71 con el menor Índice de Placa Blanda; de igual forma la pieza 16 presentó la mayor cantidad de placa calcificada, mientras que los dientes 85;75;71;31;11 no presentaron placa calcificada. CONCLUSIÓN: La prevalencia del Índice de Higiene Oral comunitario en la parroquia es del 29% EXCELENTE, 65% BUENO y un 6% REGULAR.es_ES
