Prevalencia de Gingivitis en escolares de la escuela Juan Bautista S. período 2018.

Abstract

Objective: To determine the prevalence of gingivitis in primary school students from Juan Bautista S during the 2018 school year. Materials and methods The focus of the present investigation is quantitative and observational type, in which one hundred and thirty three students between 6 and 12 years old were evaluated by the Loe and Silness gingivitis index. Results The study revealed that there is a greater presence of gingivitis in the male sex with 42.11%, as opposed to the female gender with 33.83%. Regarding the degree of inflammation, it could be observed that mild inflammation presented a frequency of 39.8%, followed by school children with moderate inflammation with 30.1%, and with a lower percentage were schoolchildren with severe inflammation with 6%. Conclusion: the prevalence of gingivitis in schoolchildren from 6 to 12 years old was high, being children between 10 and 12 years of age those who showed greater gingival inflammation.
