“Factores asociados a la aceptación de la vacuna COVID-19 en el cantón Azogues “

Abstract

Introduction: Vaccines have become the best weapon for preventing and controlling epidemics without approved, standard effective therapies. Objective: To determine the factors associated with accepting the COVID-19 vaccine in Azogues canton during 2022. Methodology: A descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach was done. A sample of 228 participants was established. The research was conducted in Azogues canton, which is in Cañar province. An instrument consisting of 22 questions divided into three sections was applied to confirm the level of acceptance of the Covid-19 vaccine and the influencing factors. Results: The mean age of the participants was 32.5 years; 52.6% were men, 59.2% were single, 78.9% were Catholic, and 45.6% had high school education. 100% agreed to be vaccinated against Covid-19, considering that the vaccine is effective and would recommend it. The majority showed to have information about vaccines, with the Internet being the most prevalent means of information. There were reasons for not getting vaccinated, the ineffectiveness of the vaccines, not belonging to the risk group and adverse effects. Conclusion: Vaccination is the only means to decrease the covid-19 pandemic. Further studies should be conducted in different populations to compare the level of acceptance and implement strategies to improve the acceptance of vaccination.
