Hernioplastia inguinal Abierta versus Laparoscópica en hombres. Revisión sistemática

Abstract

Inguinal hernias are one of the most common surgical pathologies at the hospital level, presenting as a lump in the groin region. This condition develops due to a weakness in the anterior abdominal wall, leading to the protrusion of any structure from the abdominal cavity, with a higher prevalence in males. Diagnosis is made through inspection and palpation during a physical examination and, sometimes, by ultrasound when there is uncertainty. The treatment is surgical, either through an open approach (Lichtenstein) or laparoscopy (TEP-TAAP). Objective: To compare the benefits and complications of open inguinal hernioplasty versus laparoscopic hernioplasty in men. Method and Materials: This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, employing SciELO, Google Scholar, PubMed, NYH, and Science databases. The study follows the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Results and Conclusions: A database comprising 34 studies was generated, and after filtering, 25 articles remained. These articles provide scientific information, including a comparative analysis of the open technique with a shorter learning curve and the laparoscopic technique with less time and pain.
