Implantes cigomáticos: complicaciones, limitaciones y pronóstico- revisión sistemática.

Resumen
Introduction: In the year 1989 zygomatic implants were developed and at present, it has
been described that the treatment is an alternative technique for the rehabilitation of patients
with severe maxillary atrophy, it is applied in patients with neoplastic diseases and severe
maxillary atrophy treatments. The objective of the present research was to analyze and
identify the advantages, limitations, and possible complications, as well as prognosis of
zygomatic implant treatment through a review of the literature. Materials and methods: The
present research is a systematic review in which information was compiled following the
PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines
used for systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Result: A total of 32 articles were included
in the qualitative synthesis. In the quantitative synthesis, 26 articles were included because
they contained the required data. Conclusion: In the collection of information, 861
zygomatic implants were analyzed, and it was determined that only 5% presented
complications during treatment or prosthetic failure. Rehabilitation with zygomatic implants
in patients with severe maxillary atrophy is associated with high survival rates and a low
incidence of complications.

Introducción: En el año 1989 se desarrolló los implantes cigomáticos y en la actualidad,
se ha descrito que el tratamiento es una técnica alternativa para la rehabilitación de
pacientes con atrofia maxilar severa, se aplica en pacientes con enfermedades neoplásicas
y en tratamientos de atrofia maxilar severa. El objetivo de la presente investigación fue
analizar e Identificar las ventajas, limitaciones y posibles complicaciones, así como
pronóstico del tratamiento de implantes cigomáticos a través de la revisión de la literatura
Materiales y métodos: La presente investigaciones es una revisión sistemática en la cual
se realizó la recopilación de información siguiendo las directrices PRISMA (Preferred
Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses) utilizada para revisiones
sistemáticas y metanálisis. Resultado: Se incluyó un total de 32 artículos en la síntesis
cualitativa. En la síntesis cuantitativa se incluyeron 26 artículos ya que estos contenían los
datos requeridos. Conclusión: En la recopilación de información se analizó, 861 implantes
cigomáticos y se determinó que solo el 5% presentan complicaciones durante el tratamiento
o fracaso protésico. La rehabilitación con implantes cigomáticos en pacientes con atrofia
maxilar severa se encuentra asociado a tasas de supervivencia elevadas y con una
incidencia de complicaciones baja.
