Tratamiento para el síndrome de apenea obstructiva del sueño. Revisión de la literatura

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To identify the main treatments available for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. MATERIALS AND METHODS: An information search was carried out in the Pubmed, Bvs, Science Direct, Scopus, Web of Science, Scielo, Ovid, Lilacs, Research Gate and Redalyc databases using the different exclusion and inclusion criteria. RESULTS: The qualitative evaluation was carried out with a total of 22 articles. Of these 7 Randomized Clinical Trials, 1 Systematic Review, 2 Case Reports, 2 Meta-Analysis, 1 Retrospective Pilot Study and 9 Bibliographic Reviews. CONCLUSION: There are a number of treatments focused on resolving obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and among the main ones we have: myofunctional therapy, surgical treatment, different oral appliances or devices, continuous air pressure, pharmacological treatment, hypoglossal nerve stimulation, weight loss and medical treatment; Of all of them, the gold standard is continuous positive airway pressure; however, of all the aforementioned, each treatment must be applied for each specific case, whether it is a mild, moderate, or severe problem, and in many cases, the treatment can be combined to obtain better results.
