Efecto de la suplementación con Saccharomyces cerevisiae sobre la morfometría intestinal de cerdos destetados

Abstract

The objective of the study was to evaluate the effect of Saccharomyces cerevisiae supplementation on intestinal morphometry of weaned pigs. A total of 45 weaned pigs of the Landrace x Pietrain breed, 45 days old, with a mean weight of 17.5 kg (+ 1), were distributed under a complete randomized design in three treatments T0 (control), T1 (0.5% of Saccharomyces cerevisiae), T2 (1 % of Saccharomyces cerevisiae), with three replicates per treatment and 5 pigs per replicate. The variables evaluated were productive parameters (total weight, weight gain, feed intake, and feed conversion) and intestinal morphometry variables (height, width, and some intestinal villi, number and depth of crypt, and wall thickness). The data were analyzed using the statistical program Infostat, version 1.1. The results showed that the addition of S. cerevisiae yeast in the feed ration in pigs at doses of 0.5 and 1% in the growth-finishing stages does not significantly impact the productive parameters of the pigs; however, a decrease in feed consumption and a better cumulative feed conversion were observed with the 0.5% inclusion; on the other hand, there is a relative benefit on the variables of intestinal morphometry by supplementing the feed of pigs with S. cerevisiae. It is concluded that the addition of the yeast in pig diets at 0.5 and 1% had no statistically significant effect on the productive parameters and intestinal morphometry in pigs.
