Abordaje quirúrgico como tratamiento de hidradenitis supurativa HURLEY III: reporte de caso

Abstract

Hidradenitis suppurativa is a chronic inflammatory condition that affects areas of the skin with apocrine glands, presenting with painful and suppurative episodes at irregular times. It has an overall prevalence ranging from 0.00033 % to 4.1 % and tends to develop most commonly in the third and fourth decades of life. Thus, there is usually an average delay of 7 to 10-year between the onset of symptoms and the diagnosis of the disease. Case report: A 48-year-old male patient presenting recurrent lesions in the bilateral inguinal region and scrotum, secreting purulent material, treated with multiple antibiotics, with poor response. Drainage, surgical cleaning, and localized removal of the affected area were performed without closing the wound. In the absence of significant improvement, it was decided to perform a wide excision involving the skin of the right groin and scrotal region, this time with direct closure of the wound. Favorable results were obtained, improving the patient's quality of life. In conclusion, despite the challenges associated with this pathology, research continues to search for better therapeutic approaches to improve patient management and quality of life.
