Nivel de conocimiento sobre responsabilidad legal del profesional odontólogo de la Provincia del Cañar

Abstract

This study was conducted in the province of Cañar, interviewing 132 dentists about legal responsibility to assess their knowledge about legal responsibility in the performance of the dental profession. OBJECTIVE: To establish the knowledge level about the legal responsibility of dental professionals in the province of Cañar. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A quantitative, descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional study was performed, including 132 dentists, some of whom may be affiliated with the dental association of the province of Cañar. RESULTS: Of the 132 dentists surveyed, 82.95% demonstrated knowledge of the country's laws and regulations in force, while 17.05% had a knowledge deficit about legal responsibility. CONCLUSIONS: Dental professionals must possess comprehensive knowledge of the laws to avoid potential lawsuits and promote ethics in professional practice. Therefore, institutions need to improve the quality of education regarding these areas and the relevant laws. To be informed is crucial to prevent actions that may result in dental malpractice and legal disputes.
