| dc.description | OBJETIVO. El objetivo de esta investigación fue determinar el índice de necesidad de tratamiento ortodóntico en pacientes de 12 años en la parroquia Sinincay, Cantón Cuenca, en el año 2016. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS La metodología aplicada fue investigación descriptiva, documental, observacional en una población de 101 escolares, datos obtenidos del programa EPI INFO VER 7.2. RESULTADOS: De los 101 pacientes escolares encuestados en la Parroquia Sinincay de acuerdo a la necesidad de tratamiento ortodóntico autopercibida según los grados y el sexo se determina que el género femenino no necesita de tratamiento ortodóntico en un 85.96%, seguido de un 10% necesidad moderada y 3.51% de necesidad definitiva, y en el sexo masculino el 90.9% sin necesidad de tratamiento, 4.55% necesidad moderada y necesidad definitiva, sin existir relación estadística entre el sexo y los grados de necesidad de tratamiento ortodóntico donde (p=0.5332). CONCLUSIÓN. Se obtuvo que la necesidad de tratamiento ortodóntico autopercibida en los escolares de 12 años de la Parroquia Sinincay es 3.96% que requiere de tratamiento ortodóntico y el 96.04% no requiere de dicho tratamiento. | es_ES |

He objective of this investigation was to determine the Index of need for orthodontic treatment in patients of 12 years in the parish Sinincay, Canton Cuenca, in the year 2016. MATERIALS AND METHODS the methodology applied was descriptive research, documentary film, observational in a population from 101 school children, data obtained from the program EPI INFO VER 7.2 RESULTS Of the 101 patients schoolchildren surveyed in the parish Sinincay according to the need for orthodontic treatment self-rated according to the grades and sex it is determined that the female gender does not need orthodontic treatment in a 85.96%, followed by a 10% moderate need and 3.51% definite need, and in the male sex 90.9% without the need for treatment, 4.55% moderate need and definite need, without a statistical relationship between sex and the degrees of need for orthodontic treatment where (p=0.5332).
