Prevalencia de la ansiedad al tratamiento dental en adultos de la parroquia El Sagrario 2025

Abstract

Objective: To determine the prevalence of dental treatment anxiety and its possible association with gender and age in the adult population of the parish of El Sagrario, Cuenca, 2025. Materials and Methods: A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study was designed with a representative sample of 402 adults. Data were collected using the Structured Dental Anxiety Scale (EQ-SDAI). Data analysis included the use of descriptive statistics for prevalence analysis and Pearson’s chi-square test for bivariate analysis, establishing a significance level of (p < 0.05). Results: The overall prevalence of dental anxiety was 63.7% (n = 256). Inferential analysis did not detect a statistically significant association with gender (p = 0.211) or age (p = 0.463). Conclusion: There is a high prevalence of this condition in the studied population, which occurs consistently regardless of the sociodemographic variables analyzed. It is imperative to implement standardized behavioral management protocols in daily clinical practice to improve the overall patient experience and treatment adherence.
