Abstract

Several inflammatory and prothrombotic mechanisms may contribute to the risk of cardiovascular events and stroke from COVID-19, this also influences its treatment and management. The evidence on pathophysiological mechanisms of COVID-19 and stroke is highly relevant in treatment and management due to the difficulty that therapy proposes in times of massive contagion. That is why this review is focused on describing the mechanism of action and treatment of the ischemic cerebrovascular event caused by COVID-19. Carrying out a non-experimental study of a descriptive nature of a bibliographic review using scientific search engines available on the web to describe the information such as databases: ScienceDirect and Pubmed where keywords will be used in order to specify the search to find the relationship between the Stroke and COVID-19. In this way, it will be possible to determine the mechanisms of action that COVID-19 triggers for the formation of thrombi and thus a stroke. On the other hand, it is also expected to recognize how stroke treatment influenced patients with COVID-19. The cytokine storm is a very prominent mechanism in the pathophysiology of COVID-19 and in terms of treatment, the identification of the infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus is important in the management of patients with cerebrovascular accident.
