Resumen
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is an autoimmune disease with a very heterogeneous clinical presentation mediated by both environmental and genetic factors with a predominance of females with a ratio of 9:1 compared to males, as well as by Afro-descendant, Asian and Asian ethnic groups. Hispanics; its pathogenesis is mediated by polymorphic variants of different genes that provide susceptibility to this disease and that have been related to different clinical characteristics, among the most notable are lupus nephritis, cardiovascular diseases, while its treatment, despite not being found established, is based on the use of immunosuppressants, glucocorticoids and targeted therapies

El Lupus Eritematoso Sistémico es una enfermedad de tipo autoinmune y presentación clínica muy heterogénea mediada tanto por factores ambientales como genéticos, tiene predominio por el sexo femenino con una relación de 9:1 respecto al sexo masculino, así como por las etnias afrodescendiente, asiática e hispanos; su patogénesis se encuentra mediada por variantes polimórficas de distintos genes que brindan susceptibilidad ante esta enfermedad y que se han relacionado con distintas características clínicas, entre las más destacables se encuentra la nefritis lúpica, enfermedades cardiovasculares, mientras que su tratamiento, a pesar no encontrarse establecido, se basa en el uso de inmunosupresores, glucocorticoides y terapias dirigidas.
