dc.descriptionOBJETIVO: Determinar la prevalencia de lesiones periapicales, presentes en pacientes de 30 a 50 años de edad que asistieron al Centro Radiológico de la Universidad Católica de Cuenca en el periodo 2015-2017. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: La metodología utilizada fue con un enfoque cuantitativo, descriptivo, observacional, retrospectivo y transversal actual. La población de este estudio fue estimada de acuerdo a los pacientes que asistieron al Centro Radiológico de la Universidad Católica de Cuenca para obtener una radiografía panorámica con fines diagnósticos, los mismos que cumplieron las especificaciones del estudio, la muestra fue de 263 radiografías que cumplían con los parámetros estipulados, del mismo modo fueron excluidas las radiografías panorámicas digitales que se han tomado fuera del corte focal, radiografías tomadas con una técnica inadecuada, radiografías cefálicas, radiografías oclusales y radiografías digitales que se encontraron repetidas en la base de datos. RESULTADOS: Se evidenció una prevalencia de lesiones periapicales con un 22% correspondiente a 59 pacientes, dando como resultado al absceso periapical como lesión con mayor prevalencia con un 14.1%. El estudio determinó que el sexo femenino fue el mayor afectado por la presencia de lesiones periapicales con un 12.17% que corresponde a 32 personas del sexo femenino con dicha lesión.es_ES
dc.description.resumenOBJECTIVE: Determine the prevalence of periapical lesions, present in patients who attended the Radiological Center of the Catholic University of Cuenca in the period 2015-2017, in an age range of 30 to 50 years. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The methodology used was with a quantitative, descriptive, observational, retrospective and current transversal approach. The population of this study was estimated according to the patients who attended the dental clinic of the Catholic University of Cuenca, who met the specifications of the study, who went to the Radiological Center to obtain a panoramic radiograph which serves as a diagnosis, which gave us a sample of 263 radiographs that met the stipulated parameters, among which were excluded digital panoramic radiographs taken outside the focal section, radiographs taken with an inadequate technique, cephalic radiographs, occlusal radiographs and digital radiographs that were found repeated in the database. RESULTS: It was evidenced that there is a considerable prevalence with respect to the radiographic findings compatible with the presence of periapical lesions in the radiological center of the Catholic University of Cuenca, represented by 22% corresponding to 59 patients, showing that the most prevalent periapical lesion Periapical abscess with 14.1%. All these studies showed that it was presented in greater number in patient of 40 - 50 years of average age, which were with a greater number of appearances in the study, it was determined that the female sex was the most affected by the presence of periapical lesions.es_ES
