dc.description	OBJETIVO: El principal objetivo del que nace la investigación es determinar la prevalencia de edentulismo parcial y total en pacientes de 35 a 65 años de edad. Pues es de interés para la comunidad odontológica, pues que no existo información relacionada en el sector de la aplicación. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: El estudio se basa en un estudio descriptivo transversal, el mismo que se realizó a nivel descriptivo de investigación. En el cual existió una población de 3.029 personas que se encontraban entre la edad de 35 a 65 años, información que fue facilitada mediante el último censo realizado. Por lo que la muestra con la que se trabajo fue de 342 personas, en la cual la recolección de la información consto de fichas de información personal, de las clases de Kennedy y mediante la observación, ficha que fue validada por el departamento de investigación de la Universidad Católica de Cuenca. RESULTADOS: Se logró concluir que existe una frecuencia del 87% de la muestra, que sufren edentulismo. En el rango de edad más común en presentar la condición se encuentra entre los 45 y 54 años. Y por último se evidencio que no existe ninguna relación significativa en la variable sexo.
dc.description.abstract	OBJECTIVE: The main objective of the investigation is to determine the prevalence of partial and total edentulism in patients 35 to 65 years of age. It is of interest to the dental community, because there is no related information in the application sector. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study is based on a cross-sectional descriptive study, the same one that was carried out at the descriptive level of research. In which there was a population of 3,029 people who were between the ages of 35 and 65, information that was provided through the last census conducted. So the sample with which it was worked was 342 people, in which the collection of the information consisted of personal information sheets, of the Kennedy classes and through the observation, file that was validated by the research department of the Catholic University of Cuenca. RESULTS: It was concluded that there is a frequency of 87% of the sample, suffering from edentulism. In the most common age range in presenting the condition is between 45 and 54 years. And finally it was evident that there is no significant relationship in the sex variable.
