“Enfermedades no transmisibles: Funcionalidad familiar y su influencia en la hipertensión arterial no controlada. Biblián-Déleg, diciembre 2022-marzo 2023”

Abstract

Arterial hypertension is on of the leading causes of death worldwide, so the patient must comply with treatment and receive support from family. Objective: To determine family functionality and its influence on uncontrolled arterial hypertension in Biblián and Déleg cantons from December 2022 to March 2023. Methodology: A quantitative, analytical, and cross-sectional study was applied. The sample was 157 adults who live in Biblián and Déleg cantons. Two instruments were used: The Perceived Family Functionality Scale APGAR and the medication adherence scale (MORSKY SCALE). Results: According to sociodemographic characteristics: the mean age was 43.9 (SD 10.8), 60.5% were women, 58% lived in rural areas, 61.8% were married, 47.1% had primary education concerning the family type, 74.5% belonged to a nuclear family, in terms of prevalece 49.68% controlled their blood pressure, and 50.32% did not. About the family, 54.8% have standard functionality; 98.09% are not adherent to treatment. Conclusion: Most of the participants in the study came from functional families, a condition that doses not influence the control of arterial hypertension.
