TELEODONTOLOGÍA COMO HERRAMIENTA EN LA ATENCIÓN ODONTOLÓGICA DURANTE EL TIEMPO DE COVID-19: ARTÍCULO DE REVISIÓN

Resumen
Teledentistry facilitates remote access to dental services, optimizing oral health care through platforms (ICT) and connecting patients and dental professionals remotely by videoconferencing, audio, and digital images. In this way, the professional makes a diagnosis, issues treatment recommendations, and enables post-operative follow-up through online platforms. OBJECTIVE: To determine the importance of teledentistry as a tool in dental care during the COVID-19 pandemic. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A search for information was conducted on SciELO, Scopus, PubMed, Google Scholar, and Redalyc databases to address the research question: What was the role played by teledentistry as a tool in dental care during the COVID-19 Pandemic? RESULTS: Teledentistry was determined to be a viable alternative employed as a tool in pandemic dental care. CONCLUSIONS: Teledentistry, more than a tool of attention in different specialties of dentistry, has helped to solve doubts and concerns of the patient, avoiding unnecessary mobilizations, motivating, orienting, and, in the case of urgency or emergency, assisting the patient.

La teleodontología facilita el acceso al servicio odontológico de forma remota optimizando la atención de salud bucodental a través de plataformas (TIC), permite conectar al paciente y profesional dental a distancia por videoconferencia, audio e imagen digital. De este modo el profesional realiza un diagnóstico, emite recomendaciones de tratamiento y posibilita el seguimiento post-operatorio mediante plataformas en línea. OBJETIVO: Determinar la importancia de la teleodontología como herramienta en la atención odontológica durante el tiempo de pandemia de COVID-19. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: Se realizó la búsqueda de la información en bases de datos como: Scielo, Scopus, Pubmed, Google académico y Redalyc que responda a la pregunta de investigación: ¿Cuál fue el papel que desempeñó la teleodontología como herramienta en atención odontológica durante el tiempo de covid-19? RESULTADOS: Se determinó que la teleodontología es una alternativa viable empleada como herramienta de atención dental en pandemia. CONCLUSIONES: La teleodontología más que una herramienta de atención en diferentes especialidades de la odontología ha ayudado a resolver dudas e inquietudes al paciente, evitando movilizaciones innecesarias motivando, orientando y sea el caso de urgencia u emergencia asistiendo al paciente.
