| dc.description | OBJETIVO: El objetivo de esta investigación fue determinar la relación entre el nivel de instrucción y la automedicación en adultos mayores de 65 años en la parroquia San Sebastián, Cuenca – Ecuador, 2017. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: La investigación tuvo un enfoque cuantitativo, con diseño de caso control, nivel relacional, retrospectivo, el muestreo fue por conveniencia. RESULTADOS: Se aplicaron un total de 355 encuestas a dicho grupo etario, de los cuales al realizar el muestreo por conveniencia, el tamaño de muestra fue de 92 habitantes, de los cuales 46 son casos y 46 son controles; los niveles de instrucción analfabeto, primaria y secundaria, fue el grupo expuesto en el cuál el 39% mencionaron que si se automedicaban y el 33% que no se automedicaban; mientras que los niveles de instrucción superior técnica y superior universitaria fue el grupo no expuesto el 11% mencionaron que si se automedican y el 17% lo contrario. De las 92 personas el 25% del sexo femenino y el 25% del sexo masculino mencionaron que si se automedicaban. | dc.description.resumen | AIM: The aim of this research was to determine the relationship between the level of instruction and self-medication in adults over 65 years of age in the parish of San Sebastian, Cuenca - Ecuador, 2017. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The research had a quantitative approach, with case design control, relational level, retrospective, sampling was for convenience. RESULTS: A total of 355 surveys were applied to this age group, of which when sampling for convenience, the sample size was 92 habitants, of which 46 are cases and 46 are controls; the levels of illiterate, primary and secondary education were the exposed group in which 39% mentioned that if they self-medicated and 33% did not self-medicate; while the levels of higher technical and higher university education was the group not exposed, 11% mentioned that if they selfmedicate and 17% the opposite. Of the 92 people, 25% of the female sex and 25% of the male sex mentioned that if they self-medicated. CONCLUSION: There is no relationship between the level of instruction and self-medication in adults over 65 years of age in the San Sebastian parish. | es_ES |
