dc.descriptionIntroducción: El COVID-19 es una enfermedad respiratoria caracterizada por varias manifestaciones clínicas leves o severas, siendo una gran cantidad de pacientes los que presentan secuelas posteriores a superar la fase aguda de la enfermedad, llamándose síndrome post COVID-19 o COVID prolongado. Objetivo: Estimar la prevalencia de signos y síntomas del síndrome post COVID-19 en la población de 20 a 59 años del cantón Cañar, periodo diciembre 2022-marzo 2023.Metodología: Estudio observacional, descriptivo-correlacional, con enfoque cuantitativo a una muestra de 244 participantes de la provincia del Cañar, se utilizó un instrumento de 22 preguntas divididas en tres secciones que permitieron establecer la infección por COVID-19. Resultados: la edad media de los participantes fue de 37,88 años; el 53,7% fueron mujeres y el y el 46,3% hombres, el 41% pertenecen al área urbana y el 59% al área rural; el 75,4% no presentó enfermedades previas, en tanto que, el 84% si se contagió de COVID – 19; entre los síntomas más prevalentes post COVID se encuentran: dificultad para respirar (38,1%) y tos (28,3%). Conclusión: Se concluye confiando la ejecución de más estudios en diferentes poblaciones en el cantón cañar y sus alrededores, por la problemática que genera el Síndrome post COVID tanto en las personas que se contagiaron, así como en sus familiares para evitar futuros decesos por las enfermedades que se presenten.es_ES
dc.description.abstractIntroduction: COVID-19 is a respiratory disease characterized by several mild or severe clinical manifestations, with a large number of patients who present sequelae after overcoming the acute phase of the disease, being called post-COVID-19 syndrome or prolonged COVID. Objective: To estimate the prevalence of signs and symptoms of post-COVID-19 syndrome in the population between 20 and 59 years old in Cañar canton from December 2022 to March 2023. Methodology: An observational, descriptive-correlational study with a quantitative approach was conducted on a sample of 244 participants from Cañar province, using an instrument of 22 questions divided into three sections that allowed establishing the COVID-19 infection. Results: The mean age of the participants was 37.88 years; 53.7% were women, and 46.3% were men; 41% lived in the urban area, and 59% in the rural area; 75.4% did not present previous diseases, while 84% infected with this disease. Among the most prevalent post-COVID symptoms were: difficulty breathing (38.1%) and cough (28.3%). Conclusion: In conclusion, more studies should be conducted on different populations in Cañar canton and its surroundings due to the problems generated by the post-COVID syndrome in the people who were infected, as well as in their families, thus preventing future deaths due to this disease.es_ES
