Autopercepción de la enfermedad periodontal en habitantes de El Valle Cuenca 2021

Abstract

Introduction: The objective of the self-perception of periodontal disease is for the individual to self-assess his or her oral health status and to become aware of the risk caused by suffering from this pathology. Objective: To determine the level of self- perception of periodontal disease in inhabitants of El Valle, Cuenca 2021. Materials and Methods: A quantitative, descriptive, communicational, current cross-sectional study was carried out. The sample size was 379 inhabitants of "El Valle", to whom a questionnaire of self-assessment of periodontal status was applied. Results: The level of self-perception obtained in the parish "El Valle", indicated that 29% perceive periodontal disease and 71% do not perceive it, according to sex a greater lack of self-perception was obtained in the female sex with 40%. Conclusions: It was determined that there is no self-perception of periodontal disease among the residents of the parish "El Valle".
