Management skills are an important element in the development of activities and the fulfillment of organizational objectives. This research analyzed management skills and their relationship with employees’ work performance at the intercultural decentralized autonomous government of Cañar (GADIC by its acronym in Spanish). A non-experimental cross-sectional quantitative approach with correlational scope research was used. A survey was applied to a sample of 381 users. The Spearman correlation coefficient was used to analyze the information in order to respond to the hypothesis. It determined the existence of a causal relationship between management skills and employees’ work performance at the GADIC. The results showed that employees have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide a good service. However, these processes must constantly improve in order to be perceived by the users since as management skills increase, work performance becomes more relevant within the institution.
