Ítem Acceso Abierto Análisis comparativo de caminabilidad en la Ciudad de Cuenca. Enfocado en los polígonos de intervención PIT O-1 y PIT O-20(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2024) Chaca Maxi, Paúl Esteban; León Andrade, Mónica Piedad; 0106391733In Cuenca, the deterioration of many sidewalks or, in some cases, their non-existence is evident, in addition to the predominance of vehicular traffic over public spaces. When pedestrians find none or too small sidewalks, this situation frequently forces them to go down the road to walk, which generates notable discomfort and negatively affects the quality of the urban environment. The present study is based on a literature review of urban morphology, pedestrian mobility, and public space to identify variables that allow analyzing and quantifying walkability in two specific sectors of the city selected for this analysis. Once these variables have been identified, data will be collected in the field, which will allow a comparative analysis. This analysis will evaluate the extent to which pedestrian mobility has been integrated as an essential component in urban planning and construction processes. As a final result, a preliminary project will be developed focused on the polygon that presents the most unfavorable conditions. This preliminary project will be based on the needs detected in the said road, using the selected variables and following urban design criteria recognized by prestigious architects. The proposal will significantly improve walkability and public space use, contributing to a more inclusive urban environment.
