The role of parents in the teaching-learning process has proven to be an important factor in their children’s education. They are guides for the student’s cognitive and affective development in the activities assigned to be carried out at home, providing motivation and continuous support to their parents in education. This research was conducted in José Benigno Iglesias Educational Unit and Dr. Camilo Gallegos Domínguez Educational Unit in the Biblián Canton, in the province of Cañar. The research is non-experimental with a quantitative approach because descriptive cross-sectional statistics were applied. Likert model survey was conducted on teachers of educational institutions, where information was obtained for the respective analysis of the results. This revealed that students maintain low academic performance due to family issues, parental habits, and socio-affective emotions. The aim is to determine the role of parents in students’ academic performance and better the role of parents fundamental for the students to attend and develop the activities through family support.
