Ítem Acceso Abierto Eficacia del tratamiento cognitivo conductual para el trastorno de la depresión en pacientes adultos oncológicos.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2025) Vega Romero, Dayra; Tamayo Piedra, Mónica; 1104916141Introduction: Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is one of the most used techniques to treat depressive symptoms in people with an oncological diagnosis. This group has a high incidence of psychological disorders due to the physical and emotional impact of the disease and iatrogenic treatments. This article discusses CBT in oncology, focusing on second and third-generation interventions emphasizing reducing depressive symptoms. Objective: To analyze the comparative effectiveness between second-generation therapies (focused on modifying dysfunctional thoughts) and third-generation psychological treatments (oriented towards the recognition and adaptability of specific cognitive processes). Methodology: A literature review and qualitative analysis of Randomized Clinical Trial (RCT) type studies and systematic reviews were conducted. The search covered studies published between 2014 and 2024 in relevant databases, selecting those that evaluated CBT in cancer patients with depressive symptoms. Results: Studies show that both second and third-generation CBT are effective in reducing depressive symptoms. However, third-generation therapies, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), have long-term advantages in patients' general wellness and emotional adjustment. Conclusion: Both generations of CBT are effective, but third-generation therapies stand out for their long-lasting benefits. It is recommended to personalize interventions and develop more studies with robust designs.
