Addiction, defined as a persistent physical and psychological dependence on substances or behaviors, manifests itself in a gambling problem as an increasing compulsion to gamble a significant amount of money. This behavior affects not only individual mental and financial health, but also weakens family relationships. This is the reason why the objective of our literature review is to analyze the impact of gambling addiction on family relationships. The research was based on the Methodology with a literature review and a qualitative approach, with a descriptive scope, waiting for the results obtained from the research to highlight the significant impact of gambling addiction on family relationships. It is evident that pathological gambling not only affects the individual directly involved but also substantially influences the dynamics and intimacy within the family environment. Couple Behavioral Therapy emerges as an effective therapeutic strategy by addressing the tensions and challenges that arise in relationships affected by gambling addiction. There is a decrease in trust and intimacy, factors that are often associated with this addiction. In conclusion, gambling addiction, an addictive disorder, negatively affects family dynamics, generating financial conflicts and emotional tensions. The results showed a higher prevalence in men, so the combination of therapeutic approaches, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Behavioral Couple Therapy, have had effective results.
