Ítem Acceso Abierto Diseño e impresión de una prótesis osteointegrada en 3D para pacientes con amputación transhumeral.(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2021) Huillca Chiriboga , Silvia Jaqueline; Castillo Hidalgo, Edy Paul; 0605299676This research aimed to design and 3D print an osseointegrated prosthesis for patients with transhumeral amputation (elbow disarticulation). The study was conducted through patient selection and evaluation, prosthesis design and placement, and assessment of prosthesis biocompatibility and animal welfare. The sample consisted of a female canine patient, 5 years old, weighing 5.50 kg. For the design of the prosthesis, a life-size prototype was taken from the computed tomography (CT) and the mesh was entered into a 3D design program (Blender). After selecting the prototype, the 3D printing of the final prosthesis model and its application through surgery was performed. The patient was observed for 30 days, according to the tomography performed two months after the intervention, it was determined a high level of biocompatibility with the material used in the construction of the prosthesis, the patient did not present complications, secretions, or infections, presenting high effectiveness of adaptation to the prosthesis, evidenced by the behavior after surgery and according to the welfare shown concerning being free of hunger, thirst, malnutrition, physical and thermal discomfort, free of pain, injury, disease, fear, anguish and free to manifest a natural behavior. Keywords: 3d prosthesis, osseointegrated, transhumeral amputation, biocompatibility and animal welfare.
