Nowadays, malnutrition constitutes a worldwide challenge due to the imbalance in the intake of energy-rich foods and nutrients, aggravated partly by the COVID-19 pandemic. This situation has accentuated the concern about obesity in adolescents, which is influenced by individual, family, community, economic, and other factors, especially during pandemic confinement; in this period, the consumption of fast food and high-calorie foods increased, while physical activity was reduced. Hence, this research project was proposed to identify risk factors associated with obesity in adolescent patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. The methodology involves a literature review of recent scientific studies published in the last five years in English, Spanish, or Portuguese, in scientific journals, descriptive, analytical, and experimental studies contributing to the research to facilitate the search for bibliographic sources, and keywords related to the topic will be used. The study will generate an updated scientific discussion and present results that help to describe the conclusions and provide timely recommendations, these findings will contribute to formulating healthy nutrition strategies for this important population age group.
