Ítem Acceso Abierto Actualización terapéutica en displasia de cadera(Universidad Católica de Cuenca., 2023) Vanegas Rodas, María Eugenia; Capote Llanares, Miguel Ángel; 0104696026Introduction: Developmental dysplasia of the hip is defined as the presentation of a bone deformity; it is a significant public health problem worldwide. This condition is associated with the anatomical components of the coxofemoral joint. Although its detection has been incorporated into the neonatal screening protocol, diagnosing it in the first months of life is challenging, and intervention at an older age has been linked to long-term complications. Objective: To describe the therapeutic approach to hip dysplasia by reviewing current and scientifically relevant literature to intervene quickly and effectively in this disease. Methodology: This work employs a literature review methodology, compiling information published on electronic databases over the last five years to obtain scientific articles. Results: It was determined that managing a patient with developmental hip dysplasia should be done promptly, as there is a higher likelihood of successful resolution through non-invasive methods without compromising the patient's well-being, in more complex cases, implementing advanced surgical methods becomes pertinent. Conclusions: A specific order has been established for managing patients with dysplasia, determined by the child's age or the severity of each case; conservative measures may be necessary for mild cases, while surgical interventions may be required for severe cases.
